Coffee Roasting Session
I went to one of Glesga Roasters Coffee Roasting Sessions that they hold every Wednesday from 2pm. I was able to capture some candid shots of the roasters talking to guests that were there to see how it all happened which will be useful for archive for the final piece.
I was also able to see how they set up their roasting station and what problems I will face when shooting. I came up with more shot ideas and this trip helped me to be inspired for some sequences that will be used in the final piece.
I asked a few questions on the way they roast their coffee and how some of the equipment works that also helps me better understand the stages gone through to roast and package the coffee.

Discussion
I have had a discussion with James and learned a little more about the sparking up of the idea of the business and how there was another friend of his that had something to do with it. This will help me with some more supporting footage and to know more accurately what hes going to say during the interview.
I was able to run through my idea and questions with him and he is excited to see how it will turn out.
He also contacted his close partner in the business, Adam, who is an ex-convict. He will be there to help James roast the coffee and also be in my supporting footage to show how closely they work and get along with each other.
We nailed down locations the will be used and I also found out that their main roasting and fellowship day is on a Wednesday. This is sadly outside of my scheduled days but i plan to go and see if I can pick up any archive footage as this seems to be a key day for Glesga Roasters. There are a lot of people who attend and its a training day where they also spend time roasting and cupping the coffee. It is also a time for fellowship and talking about their faith.

Coffee Research
I have researched a little about his business before I have a talk to him about the ideas of what we want to include in the video. The key parts to his business are the people he works with and where he sources his coffee from.
He works with ex-convicts. Being an ex-convict himself he has an understanding and an empathy for these people and knows how much he was helped and how much his life was changed by people coming into prisons and helping him. So this has led him to take his coffee business into prisons and create a way for prisoners to start a new life and a new job outside of the prison. He also uses it as a way to create a time of fellowship and talk the them about Christianity and get across how his life was changed by it.
The next key point is that his green coffee beans are sourced from the Sholi plantation in the Karongi District in Rwanda, Africa. He uses beans from here due to his church going out on mission trips and specifically working with these communities.

Interviewee
The person I will be interviewing is a friend of mine, James Faddes. He is the pastor of my church and also has recently started a coffee roasting business which is what the topic of the short documentary will be.

Reasearch
Barney does a bit of busking and is also part of a band called wandering sons. He also has posted a few videos of him just playing guitar on his Facebook which would be great to use as the sound track for the documentary.

Potential Idea
I have contacted an instrument maker and musician called Barney Bridges, who is a friend of a family member, to see if he is up for being in my documentary.

This Documentary really inspired me, the use of just a few colours to keep the look consistent but also the story where they follow a musician making his music. I like that the sound track and music was from the artist being filmed.
