What a day at WWDC 2015. More thoughts to follow, but for now - this video pretty much sums up the atmosphere in there! Everyone is so positive, and so excited to be working on such a successful platform. The keynote is worth checking out if you havent seen it, and the State of the Union talk this afternoon was amazing for developers. Cannot wait for the rest of this week!

Expectations / Hopes / Dreams
What do I think is coming from WWDC? Well, i’m not sure. I am almost certain there will be no new hardware this year, following Apple’s latest trends. I anticipate new previews of OS X 11 and iOS 9, along with maybe new Apple TV software. These are almost certain and come direct from the rumour mill.
What would I like to see? Well, I would love to see Apple do something big for developers, perhaps a revamped IDE. XCode is looking a little old now, and don’t even start me on the functionality. WWDC is sure to bring more news around Swift, Apple’s new programming language. I dreamt last night that Apple announced a brand new Xcode, specifically design for Swift functionality. And (this is the crazy bit), it didn’t crash with SourceKit errors every ten minutes.
What would I dream to see? I would love Apple really to smooth over the entire end to end process of swift development. For example, if they have put some serious work in to testability in swift code, that would be awesome! Also, if Apple’s compiler has been massively improved for efficiency with swift, that too would be great!
I would love to come away from WWDC with these issues solved:
Slow build times with swift
Testing mechanisms for swift, specifically a way so we don’t need to include source files in both targets, or make everything public.
Vastly improved Xcode server, allowing us to use it for distribution without having to sacrifice our first child to get it working!
