she is lately my fav character
Tumblr media
I don’t like when media makes female characters as perfect as possible, like I wanna see real human being, that’s why I present you messy Ava
can you imagine being only girl on the team, having to hide your true identity, keeping amulet power under control and also being expected to be always perfect student, perfect role model, most perfect version of yourself? it’s only matter of time till she can’t handle it anymore and snaps
ahh how I love female rage
also my headcanon is that she straightens her hair to appear more soft, feminine and keep her image as perfect as possible, but after she finally snaps she doesn’t care anymore about those things… she becomes more honest and sarcastic and gets really sick of everyone asking her is everything is ok
rest of the team wouldn’t pay much attention to it at first, Sam would even mock her, but after while they would try to have conversation with her and it would end with Peter getting on her last nerve saying “you know we miss old Ava” and she would snap at him with “this is same old Ava but without all people pleasing bullshit” and then storm off
I can imagine afterwards Danny would say something like “I thing we upset her” and Sam would answer “yeah, no shit sherlock” and then they all would have to use they brain cells to figure out what they done wrong, and make plan how to apologize to her… they have to figure those things together bc they wouldn’t figure it out individually,… boys😮‍💨

I still am shcoked at how some people teact at when a new adaptation of a well known series with tons and tons of different adaptations change something up to stay unique. "DONT WATCH RISE OF THE TMNT RAPHAEL IS THE LEADER AND LEO IS THE FUNNY ONE" well that sure seems like a interesting way to change the dynamics up and see how they change into more of what we expect of the characters. "DONT WATCH CAPED CRUSADER THEY DETACHED HARLEY QUINN VOMPLETELY FROM JOKER" well thats an interesting way to change how the character works and how she stands up on her own as a batman villain instead of the anti hero facet we mostly see her as. "DONT WATCH MY ADVENTURES WITH SUPERMAN THEY MADE JIMMY OLSEN BLACK" well first of all, in the sea of superman adaptations we have so many adaptations of Jimmy Olsen's character and most of them are white, with the exception of the SupergirlCW show. Having a Jimmy Olsen that is black doesn't really change what the character is, or how he works, so i think making him black could be a great way to get some diversity in the cast. Also this is a completely different superman adaptation, why can't one of the Jimmy Olsens of the multiverse be black?
Talking about that raceswapping topic for a second, did you know that the main universe Nick Fury was white and that he was casted black in the movies not because of a raceswapping, but bexause in the ultimate universe, the character of Nick Fury was modeled after Samuel L. Jackson and so he wanted to play the character in the movies. And i never heard anyone hate on it bexause Samuel L. Jackson is a great actor but also bexause almost none of the general audience knew about Nick Fury before. Different versions of white characters can be of different races.
The differences of adaptations and interpretations of characters and stories is what make these long running comics and shows and movies so good. Is what makes them special. Comics as a genre is the equivalent of "yes and" for writing, especially with long standing characters like Spider Man or Daredecil or Wonder Woman where they build off past work and see what sticka or what don't and sometimes things don't work but thats fine hexause in two years the writer will change and it will probably be good again. So i really don't get the hissy fits that these fully grown people throw when their favs are changed just a bit in some adaptations and interpretations. It feels like they don't want new stories, they want the same old stoies over and over and over again. Or worse, they want to feel like they felt when they heard the story the first time but the exact same way that they did in the past and never want anything to change. Its the fear of change that plagues every famous media.

AIGHT HEADCANON TIME.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
USM JUST misses the mark with this but I’m always thinking about the parallels between Harry Osborn and Otto Octavius (and frankly Peter Parker, but this shows not about him actually /j)
Norman’s obsession with legacy and control through familial/blood ties, whether through his actual son (Harry), his so-called adoptive son (Otto), or through the mutation the Goblin shares with Pete’s spider genes drives the central conflict of the show (which is a little hard to glean in-between the fun, but repetitive cameo-fests that make up every other episode in first two seasons.)
We see him repetitively pick up and discard his “family” when a newer, stronger, heir appears. First, when Otto’s “accident” makes way for Norman to turn his attention towards Harry, and then again when The Goblin rejects Harry in favor of Spider-man’s strength, only showing praise and affection for Venom rather than his actual son.
Both Harry and Otto are initially put on pedestals, only to be corrupted and then discarded by the man they consider to be their father, leaving them both as what the world considers to be monsters (i.e. Venom or Doctor Octopus)
TLDR My Thesis For Your Consideration:
-USM where Doc Ock’s redemption arc includes becoming Harry’s VERY estranged older brother and indirectly sorting through his own trauma alongside this high-school aged kid who’s shitty dad is imprisoned on the moon now cause dear god NORMAN IS NOT THE COMPELLING REDEMPTION STORY IN THIS SHOW.
-Also HC USM Vulture is a clone Norman made of Otto after he was paralyzed in attempts to replace his “damaged” heir but that’s another post.

My version of Sam :3
Tumblr media
Here are some of my headcanons bout him:
1. He is youngest of Spidey team and so he has that younger brother energy going on
2. Skates everywhere and all the time, literally does that instead of studying for tests, his skateboard is his child. Also can surf really well, once he convinced Danny to try out surfing and from then on it became Dannys thing (he is actually better than Sam but Sam won’t admit it)
3. Brat
4. Likes to gossip with Ava (others don’t like when they do that)
5. Have those glow in the dark starts on ceiling in his room
6. Deliberately says something that is obviously incorrect just to piss off Peter
7. Likes to prank his teammates, especially Luke (even tho he knows pranking Luke can be life hazard) (also doesn’t dare to prank Ava, that would be death of him)
8. Wears baggy pants over his spandex suit (thinks it makes him look cooler)
I just realized how much people hate that Sam and Peter are so mean to eachother in usm, but I kinda like that dynamic, what buggs me more is that when they are arguing 99% of time rest of the team is on Novas side what is often out of character for them, like I don’t think they would choose Peters side either I just think they would be so done with those dorks.

Finished my design of Mysterio. I went for an archaic, litch inspired look.
Quentin Beck was a previously mild visual effects artist who turned to a life of crime, exploiting his expertise in illusions to trick people during his robberies. However, Spider-Man quickly learned to counter his tricks, and defeated him again and again. Poor Quentin found himself as a washed up member of the Sinister Syndicate, undervalued, underestimated and underpaid.
It was out of desperation that he turned to a different source for power, the demon Kindred (who, in this universe, is just a demon; because screw that whole nonsense). He formed a pact with the demon, doing Kindred's will in exchange for genuine magic, allowing him to ensnare minds, inflict nightmares, and cast fireball.

my version of miss girlboss Ava
Tumblr media
I love her character in show sm, I mean I love the whole team, but Ava- she’s got that personality✨
okay some headcanons about her:
1. school is her number one priority. fighting Doom might be bad but B from math class is way worse. But like she is actually so natural when it comes to studying, she often read her papers once before test and still manages to get A. She is that kind of person who says I’m gonna fail this test and then gets like 97%. Also helps Sam with studying (others study with Peter bc he is more patient with them).
2. she loves romance books, especially dark romance (but wont admit it)
3. anger issues - will yell at everyone for breathing too loudly when she is not in good mood
4. sometimes feel like she doesn’t fit in with other girls at school bc most of the her time she spends with boys or doing hero stuff so she kinda don’t know what to talk about with girls, also is bit jelaous of them bc like there are lot of things she can’t really talk about with boys so she feels bit lonely sometimes… I think Avas closest friend is Sam (she treats him kinda like younger brother) even tho he can be little asshole to everyone, he treats Ava with lot of respect and don’t actually mind doing “girly stuff” with her (like shopping or letting her paint his nails)
5. later on she becomes really close with Peter and hangs out with him often, they face lot of dating allegations but their friendship is on both sides just platonic… I can imagine them sharing their deepest secrets with each other while sitting on rooftop during night and laughing about it… Ava would definitely give Peter dating advices even tho she haven’t dated anyone (coach doesn’t play mentality) and they would know about each other crushes for sure and make fun of them
6. she wears lot’s of really dark clothes because she is scared if she wears white people will connects dots and find out that she is white tiger (noone would guess that) BUT I actually kinda think her prom dress would be white and she would look stunning in it
7. likes to keep her natural nails long and wears brown or maroon nail polish all the time
8. resting bitch/angry face, but when she smiles (happens rarely) she looks like real angel
I wanna ship her with someone but I can’t decide with who (I wanna give her little happy romance so she can have someone to rely on) so feel free to share your ideas in comments, that would make me really happy :>

GUYS I KNOW I LOOK INSANE PLEASE GYYS LISTEN TO ME PLEASENUJN JNDNDNJNDXJX
It's often shown that peter chooses to be spiderman to help people, to be a symbol of hope
But deep down there's that second ulterior motive that he craves to be special. If he was being bullied, even well into his college years, surely at some point that must have affected him in a way that he now seeks the validation of others, that hes doing good, that he's an independent hero who saves the day, and not a shy nerd.
Or idk I could be wrong

Reading Ultimate Fantastic Four knowing that Reed is gonna become The Maker is simultaneously really funny, but also horribly tragic.
Reading Ultimate Fantastic Four, we see Reed's awful abusive childhood and upbringing, and every time he tries to be successful or makes a groundbreaking discovery, it just explodes in his face.
Oh! Reed has discovered alien life! Ah shit it's Annihilus.
Oh! Reed has discovered a parallel version of himself! Ah shit it's a universe of zombies that wanna eat everybody.
He finds and reaches out to ANOTHER universe with OTHER superheroes in the form of the Squadron Supreme with purely friendly intentions! Ah shit he got an entire planet destroyed.
He even blames the entire Ultimatum Event on himself and that if he had just been more perfect, he could have stopped or prevented it.
Ultimate Reed's evolution into The Maker is fascinating because it's one of the few comic book heel-turns that feels like a natural evolution of the character.
Every discovery Ultimate Reed Richards made ended up ruining his life further and further. Throw some natural perfectionism on top of that constant stream of failure and it makes complete and total sense on how Ultimate Reed got where he is.

The Maker I think is an example of comic books generating a character who's incredibly good, but also incredibly dependent on the gnarled sprawling context and editorial meta-context in order to understand why he's good. He's born out of the core tension of the Ultimate Universe- the tension between retelling familiar stories in a way that's accessible to modern readers, and actually doing genuinely new and unexpected things with the characters in a continuity where you had the leeway to do so without having to enact an editorial snapback- and it's not a coincidence that he's one of only two characters who differentiated themselves enough from the 616 status quo to escape the sinking ship that the original Ultimate Marvel eventually became. He's probably not a character that would exist in the way that he does if The Ultimates and then Ultimatum hadn't sent the entire tonal trajectory of the setting into a tailspin, he's the end result of that tension embodied, a character whose backstory you can't even describe without talking about two separate Universes.
Then, of course, you get into the fact that "what if Reed Richards snapped and turned evil" is a character concept that's only legible because of the existing referent of 616 Marvel, where people have been going, "Man, Reed Richards has a lot of character traits that would make him terrifying as a supervillain" for decades. And once you notice that, you get into the issue that in fact, quite a bit of ultimate Marvel was dependent on some recognition of the old thing to recognize why the New Thing is clever. For example, is the ambiguity surrounding whether Thor is actually a Norse God or just a crazy super soldier interesting, without the context of 616-thor for comparison? Is Gah Lak Tus an interesting spin on the world-eater if you don't know about the giant asshole in purple tights? All these characters where the new take is dependent on some knowledge of the original to land effectively (or, in many cases, to understand why the new take is dogwater.)
And then, of course, you get to the Maker's big Plan for the 2023 Ultimate Universe- to pare down and reconstruct a version of continuity that's simpler, more manageable, less chaotic- a metatextual reference to the project that originally created him, and like that project it almost immediately flies off the rails because for good or ill you can't keep an entire setting's worth of plates spinning without some of the participants getting their own ideas and breaking from the script. And what you're left with is a character with an arc about how we're never getting out of here- about how you're never, ever going to be able to escape the weight of continuity, you're never going to be able to reboot your way out from under what came before, and moreover it's not completely clear why you'd even want to- look at all this great stuff we've accumulated! Look at all the thematic parallels we can draw if we bother to remember what we've done! If you're not gonna pull all these ancient threads together why are you even bothering with 60 year old characters instead of just writing something new?

It is still sooooooo fucking funny that tumblr, the "fuck that old man" website, the villain apologist website, AND the paranormal boyfriend website read Dracula and went "Count Dracula sucks, we hate this dude." Planetary alignment levels of unlikely.
