been stewing on an analytical approach to fiction which I call "is this book afraid of me?" and in order to answer this question you determine how hard the book is trying to make sure you don't come after the writer on twitter

*Gulp*....Welp...
Yes, you heard that right, Lily has gotten started on making her hour-long "Baldur's Gate III Is Garbage And Here's Why" video and oh boy, is this going to be a GLORIOUS trainwreck. You want to know why? Basically, when BG3 first came out, Lily had zero interest in it because it didn't feature her beloved sister waifu, Imoen, so she automatically dismissed as it "garbage" without even playing it. But when she learnt, through her usual obsessive hatestalking, that her ex-girlfriend Lizzy adored the game. So she brought the game, hate-skimmed it-not played, hate-skimmed (which isn't the same as "playing)-by skipping through every cutscene and line of dialogue, killing most of the party members, never levelling-up or equipping the best armour, weapons and skills. Funny thing is, Lily sucks at any non-Kingdom Hearts, WOW, KOTOR II, BG1/2 video games so she kept on rage-quitting. Since then, she hasn't even been bothered to complete it.
So yes, Lily hate-skimmed a video game ,she already had zero interest in, just so she could get shoddy material to present it as "the worst game ever"....all to spite Lizzy.
Imagine trying to tear a beloved thing down, only because it brought joy to someone you hate?
To quote the Clown Prince Of Crime: It'd funny if it weren't so pathetic. Thoughts?
....this sounds like a disaster

Theory: Adrien will learn that his father was Monarch on his own and confide in Marinette about it.
Marinette would feign ignorance and maybe try to cast doubt but Adrien makes his distrust for Ladybug clear. He tries not to let it show as Chat Noir but Ladybug catches on, not knowing the details.

I really wish that there was an Amazing Agent Luna Anime/cartoon
Seriously, it’s a New York Bestseller and yet it hasn’t been considered for such a project.
IMO they should first make an animated movie of Amazing Agent Jennifer as a sort of pilot to Luna’s adventures as a TV series. Having it in all in chronological order would be really incredible.

My take of Jaune has always been that he and Oscar are answers to the question of, "What if the standard male fantasy protagonist archetypes were secondary characters or protagonist adjacent?"
Made a post about it with Oscar but with Jaune, it does feel thematic with how the narrative seems to eschew the lone hero archetype or the zero to hero template.
i adore how RWBY handles its male characters. They're consistently shown as in the wrong for that kind of Great Man mindset, and its shown very frankly for how toxic it really is. My upcoming fantasy drama KnightStones is tackling that issue is well (shameless plug).
Also, great article on it!

Revisiting your Chloe Price video reminded me of this post I made: https://www.tumblr.com/foulfirerebel/751889858368258048
Namely how fans can like female characters in theory. It’s how I feel writers revealed to be rather sexist IRL can write very good female characters.
Women can't win. Too strong, too successful, yet not demonized enough, she's a "Mary Sue".
Does anything wrong, makes any mistakes, loses too much, she's the worst character in the show.
Too loud, takes up too much space, she's "unlikable" and "annoying" (which are somehow treated like the worst thing a woman can be?)
And somehow a lot of female characters are all three? despite that being completely contradictory.
Oh and usually framed as being at "the expense" of so-called "better characters"--often men. (though not always--in particular sometimes its more "well behaved" women)

We need to reclaim The Legend of Korra from Lorch like we did Steven Universe.
Namely a lot of us have to respond to her two vidoes after revisiting the show proper. We can get bent out of shape over our pet peeves over LoK but Lorch's views are very much a part of the hatedom the show's accurred. The more it festers, the more it will promote poor faith criticism that more often than not comes from people who never saw the show for themselves.
Because her videos often got by on people who didn't know about the subject and took her word for it. We can take back this power by re-engaging with The Legend of Korra and seeing not for what it wasn't but for what it was and trying to be.
It's right there on Netflix, people.

it rly is weird how theres this culture in progressive spaces where like you can be as mean, as CRUEL even, as you want as long as youre not being explicitly bigoted towards any marginalized group of people and still be seen as a really good person with good morals who nobody is allowed to have beef with bc theyve never done anything racist or homophobic

I really don't know how to say this without sounding like a massive hater, but like. Is anyone else getting really annoyed with the TikTokification of fandom. And how BookTok has been driving book trends, often for the worse because a lot of these people have awful taste, lmao.
It just feels like we're seeing a tidal wave of- for lack of a better term- normies get exposed to fandom culture/fanfiction/etc for the first time. And that's wonderful! I just wish they took the time to actually engage in preexisting fan culture and learn the etiquette. Or like, read some fanfiction on AO3 or even FF.net instead of buying books that are fanfic with the serial numbers filed off, because then those books become bestsellers and even MORE people think it's a good idea to publish fanfic with the serial numbers filed off.

Guys complaining about alleged "Girl Bosses" would not have survived the late 90s to early 2000s.
Hell, not even the eighties when there were a growing amount of girl characters taking sh*t and taking names. There might've been concessions in their characters arc in pertaining to men buuuuuut a whole lot of them from those decades would've cheesed off the Status Quo Warriors of today.
Back in my day, they were called Strong Female Characters(TM) by overcompensating male writers. None of this same stuff but different labels.
