It was stupid. If she hadn’t dropped the weight in front of an audience, she wouldn’t even be going to the ER for a check in. It wasn’t even heavy weight, just a warm up on twenty pound dumb bells, and one had slipped from her hand. It landed on her nose, leaving a bloody mess in it’s wake, and a wave of overly concerned gym goers insisting she get it looked at. Chloe had done worse than this to herself in the past, but she couldn’t convince that many people it was fine as she seemingly bled out through her nose. So that was how she ended up sitting on the edge of a hospital bed, paper towels shoved up her nose, and bruising around the center of her face. “You might be re-breaking my nose, your call,” Chloe deadpanned.

“Oooh you know how to make a doctors day don’t you?” he teased, grabbing some gloves and slid them on. Grabbing a stool to sit on and roll towards her, he reached into his pocket for a small light he kept for moments like this. “Please tell me there’s a decent story to go with this?” he asked, gently peeling away some of the tissue so he could inspect further. “Fight down a gang of crims, take out a mafia boss?”

Ugh. This stupidly hot arrogant fuckwit just had to come rolling in. Daniela was less than enthused at the thought of seeing him at work. He was admittedly good at riling her up and she hated dealing with him but hated the part that wanted to jump his bones even more. Her right hand was hiding the heavy bruising on her left wrist and she quickly tugged on her sweater to hide it even more. The smile was forced, not reaching her eyes. “You can get me Cora or Jonah or literally anyone else.”

“Careful, you’ll hurt my feelings.” he warned with a smirk, unbothered by the response the woman had. He pulled up a stool, smirk still firmly in place as he watched her tug her sweater over her injured wrist. “Dr. Covington is elsewhere, and I’m better, and well Dr. Harris is busy, looks like you’re stuck with me sweetheart,” he flashed her a grin that usually made the nurses forget what they were doing as he held out his hand so he could examine her wrist. “C’mon, I’ll only bite if you ask me to. I’m all about consent.”

Christmas was the busy period of year no matter what you did, and it was not different to Matt. Hearing the familiar Dr Hastings to the ER, over the PA system he sighed a little and winked to one of the nurses nearby that he’d been flirting shamelessly with for the past hour. “I’ll be back.” he promised as he headed down and moments later was being directed to the patient he’d been called to see. “Ouch, what have we got going on here? What can I do for you?”
