Advertising-driven models thrive on the meticulous curation of user profiles, enabling targeted campaigns based on individual behaviors and interests. Freemium and subscription services, eager to refine user experiences, delve into data analytics to understand user engagement patterns. E-commerce ventures leverage customer data to tailor recommendations and prevent fraudulent activities, while data brokers discreetly navigate the digital realm, aggregating and selling comprehensive user profiles. Blog Post 2 Week 4 BIS315
Algorithms: Algorithms play a significant role in shaping the content users see on social media platforms.
Advertising: The monetization model of social media platforms heavily relies on advertising revenue.
Exposure: The sheer volume of content on social media, combined with the rapid pace at which information spreads, can make it challenging to discern credible information from misinformation. Junk news may gain traction quickly due to its sensational nature, even if it lacks accuracy.
Individuals need to be aware of these conditions and how to use them to their advantage.
