“You’re right, sometimes one doesn’t quite satisfy,” he chuckled softly after finishing off the bite he had taken. Although there had been times he’d over-ordered on his breakfast because he was hungry and then had to save things for later. “Well it’s a great habit to have. I’m sure it helps you make the most of every day.”
“That’s generally the way I think about it. I always feel like I have wasted my day if I end up getting it late. That being said, there are some situations that I don’t mind laying in for.” Matthew explained with a bit of a laugh. “However, it’s also nice to get up so I can do little errands like this and make everyone elses morning just a little bit better.”

“Yeah, I don’t think we really have that in America,” she replied. “At least, it’s not called that if we do.”
“You know, it’s a shame. I feel like you might be missing out.” It wasn’t particularly special in the sense that you went out and celebrated, it was more just for the pancakes. “Do you have something similar then?”

🍀 - one of our muses finds a four leaf clover/shamrock
“Clearly you have better eyes that me.” Matthew spoke with a laugh from where he sat on the park bench sipping on the hot coffee’s they’d bought to enjoy whilst in the quiet of their current landscape. “I suppose there is no better day to find one is there? It’s supposed to me prosperity and luck... a few other things as well I believe.” He said with a shrug of his shoulders.

“Not everyone would think to do that, you know. So I appreciate your thoughtfulness,” Chloé smiled softly in return. “Ah, hope is one thing. Reality is another,” she added, her occasionally bitter realism peaking through in the comment. “So you are just a thoughtful guy all around– should’ve figured,” a laugh left her lips this time. “Do your friends from work do this for you sometimes? Also I’m a little jealous because most of my work is done solo so I don’t come to my job with surprise cake and drinks. Perhaps I’m doing something wrong.”
“Well... I guess you’re welcome?” He said with a laugh though it seemed the wrong thing to say at a situation like this. “And why exactly should you have figured?” Matthew couldn’t help but ask when the blonde made it sound like she knew exactly what he was like already. “Yes, we do this for one another when we get the chance... Well a good chunk of us anyway.” He admitted, because not everyone was the same of course. “Maybe you need to find a friend who will do it for you instead then.” Matthew suggested with a laugh.

“You’re right and I would never say no to a visit,” Victoire replied, smiling warmly, “I hope not. We don’t need another day of mourning for a war that shouldn’t happen,” she said. She hoped her family working on bringing down the Death Eaters could finish the job sooner rather than later.
“Then it’s a good thing I plan to make plenty of trips to see you.” He’d valued Victoire’s friendship in the castle and he wasn’t about to let it fade away just because she didn’t work there any more. “I hope not either.” It was a job they had been trained in but not one any of them wanted to have to follow through on.

“Sounds delicious,” Cyrus grinned at the news, setting the coffee down and then taking one of the two sandwiches off of his friend. “I guess you are,” he had to admit. “It just always takes me by surprise to see just how well you fair in the mornings. Even I’m not as cheery of a morning person as you are,” he observed, unwrapping the tin foil before treating himself to a delicious bite of the breakfast Matthew had brought for them.
“I thought you would approve. If you hadn’t I would have just taken it for myself. One isn’t necessarily enough.” Matthew laughed, opening his up to take a bite. He hummed, waiting until he’d swallowed to answer. “Ah what can I say, I wake up with the sun I suppose. It’s always been something I do. My parents are the same.”

“Yeah, that’s the only good part, but only because Valentine’s Day is my sister’s birthday, not because it’s Valentine’s Day. Pancake Tuesday? What in the world is Pancake Tuesday?”
“I suppose some people don’t know what that is but I think it’s a pretty big day in the muggle world, at least in my experience. My parents always make them. I get called around every year to have some.” Matthew explained with a little smile.

“Thank god February is over, I truly think February is the worst month, it’s so dreary and gross,” Sienna said to the other. “March isn’t much different, but at least it starts getting warmer in March.”
Matthew had to laugh at that statement, giving the girl a smile. “It has Valentines day in it. A lot of people appreciate it for that alone. And pancake Tuesday.” The man had no qualms about point out. “It’s a nice time for lots of warm layers and hot drinks. You can still get away with all the sweet, sugary items on the drinks menu.”

“I’m sure they’ll be here eventually,” she nodded when the man mentioned them being delayed due to the weather. “Me? I’m alright. Thanks for asking, you didn’t have to do that,” Chloé replied, a little surprised at the rather considerate question but maybe the other was just saying that to seem nice. “Are uh, are you okay?”
“It’s not a problem at all. You just seemed a little worried and I would hope that the considerate thing to do for most people would be to ask if someone was alright when they seem like that.” Matthew explained with a smile. “Hopefully someone would do the same for me if I were in your position. But yes, I’m alright thank you. I was only coming to pick up some drinks and cake for myself and a couple of friends from work.”

“The weather out there is absolutely dreadful,” she shuddered, putting her bag aside as she sat. Chloé rubbed her palms together in attempt to warm her hands up, ordering a coffee as a waiter came over before turning her attention to someone sat nearby. “You haven’t seen anyone in a dark red coat come by lately, have you?” she asked, not expecting her client to have arrived earlier than her but wanting to make sure just in case someone could’ve spotted them.
“I can’t say I have I’m afraid. I know that the rain will probably be slowing a lot of people down right now. No doubt they’ve just been delayed.” Matthew commented with a little smile of reassurance. “Are you okay?”

“I wouldn’t trust someone who turned down cake,” Cynthia admitted, “Umm… red velvet I guess but I’ll take anything to be completely honest. I could do with a lot of cake.”
“I agree. They are not my people.” He laughed warmly, nodding his head at Cynthia’s choice. I’m more of a rich chocolate kind of person. Fudge. But I can appreciate a good red velvet cake.”

Cynthia’s eyes felt a little watery but she nodded, “Yeah, yeah, I do,” she replied. She had her brother and Alison and she saw a professional still, someone not tied to her parents. She smiled, “Yeah, that sounds nice. I wasn’t really feeling my run anyway.”
“Good, that’s good.” Given who her sibling was, Matthew knew that Cyrus would always be there for her if she needed him. “I would have known something was really wrong if you turned down free cake.” Matthew playfully commented in an attempt to at least smile a little. “So what’s your favourite then?”

“Someone’s chipper this morning,” he observed with a chuckle as Matthew came through the door bearing gifts. “Thank you though, I’ll never turn down breakfast,” Cyrus added with a grin. “What have we got to eat this morning?” he asked, taking one of the coffees for himself and cautiously taking a first sip from the steaming cup.
“I didn’t think you would.” Because Cyrus never turned down food. “I picked us up a pair of breakfast sandwiches.” He explained, the food still piping hot as he passed one of the foil wraps over to the man and dropped himself into one of the seats. “As for being chipper, generally speaking I am always pretty bright eyed and bushy tailed in the morning.”

“Good Morning!” Matthew spoke, bright and loud as he burst through the door, hands full with paper bags and steaming hot cups of coffee. “I decided to bring you breakfast. Figured you might need it.” He stated with a grin, setting them down on the table.

“Right,” Cynthia said. She’d tried to get a laugh to come out but it didn’t so it sounded like a rather dry and awkward comment as she looked back down. She shrugged when he asked the question, not looking up again, “Not really but I don’t want to talk about it.”
“Well that’s fair. Have you got someone who you can talk to about it though? That’s just as important.” And he wanted to check that even if she wasn’t comfortable opening up to him-- understandably, that there was someone there she did trust. “How about we go and get a hot chocolate and a piece of cake. That always makes things seem a little better.

“Merde,” she cursed as she tripped, hitting the pavement, boxes scattering around her. She had been delivering some stock of wands from the Ollivander’s in Diagon Alley, to the one in Hogsmeade. She saw a box in front of someone’s feet as she was picking them up, “I’m so sorry,” she apologized, a jerk reaction to a mistake she had picked up through the last few years. “I totally didn’t meant to throw a box at you if it hit you.”
“That looked really painful, are you alright?” Matthew was immediately by the woman’s side, reaching out for her arm lightly, more concerned about her wellbeing than any of the things she’d dropped in the process. “I’m fine, you barely grazed me. I’m not the one in need of checking over right now. Did you manage to injure yourself at all?”
