MEDSKICK från Varberga / Exhibition + Publication / galleri F2 2025 - 04

MEDSKICK from Varberga is the third and final part of MASUs collaboration with Örebrobostäder in Varberga, Örebro. It started in June 2022 with the assignment to artistically step in early in the process where a new place between the houses would be formed and connect a new square with a forest. When the first stage was complete, we were further assigned to build a play sculpture as part of the surface for the young people. Together with carpenters, we worked on a mountain of wood that was inaugurated in October 2024.

The publication and exhibition MEDSKICK from Varberga at Galleri F2 is a kind of collection of the entire work process around Varberga with a focus on the area around Gröna villan where several different artists have been part of the process both before and after our work there. The exhibition showed a process room with material from different artistic processes where visitors could read, look and browse. The room was programmed during the exhibition with readings, talks, meetings and screenings. On the second floor of the gallery, Know How showed parts of workshops and processes that are part of the continued work at the site.

As part of the exhibition, MASU worked on a sculpture outside the gallery. The work, which is part of (Material) Site Recordings, moved between the gallery's patio over the plank to a nearby garden and functioned as a connection between F2 and its neighbors.

The entire project was led by Anna Maria Hellner at Örebrobostäder in collaboration with Veronica Hejdelind.

The exhibition at Galleri F2 was curated by Anna Maria Hellner and the participating artists were: Ruben Wätte, MASU, Jenny Käll, Sanaz Hakimi, Tina Macha.

To make a summary of the whole process, which is quite different from traditional art-in-public space ways of working, a publication was made. It contains texts by HallemarHejdelind, Anna Maria Hellner, MASU and Ruben Wätte, who have all been involved in the work in different ways.

MEDSKICK from Varberga is edited by Veronica Hejdelind and designed by Mattias Gunnarsson.
