West Memphis 3
Tumblr media
During the summer of 1993 in West Memphis, Arkansas the lives of 8 year old boys, Steve Branch, Michael Moore, and Christopher Byers were brutally taken from them. They were found in a creek near their homes the following day, hog tied and naked. West Memphis police had no idea how to handle a case of this magnitude and they botched it badly. The result of their work? The murders of these boys has not been solved or punished, and the lives of 3 teenagers were destroyed when they were convicted of the crime with a false confession from a mentally challenged teenager and zero proof linking them to the case.
Fast forward 18 years, the now men were let out of prison as Arkansas used a loop hole called an Alford Plea to keep the case closed and keep them from suing for the injustice.
Follow us as we dig into this case deeper to try and find you the real murderer was.

Tara Calico Mystery
Tumblr media
In the morning of September 20, 1988, 19 year old Tara Leigh Calico went for a bike ride near her New Mexico home and never returned. It was a ride she took often, sometimes with her mother, a route she knew well and no one could have imagined this day would be her last ride. Several theories have circled around the disappearance and most lean towards a kidnapping. For years following, pictures have surfaced showing a bound and gagged girl along with a boy who may have also disappeared from New Mexico. The picture resembles Tara and some say it is her, some say its not. No real proof or evidence has ever surfaced that is strong enough to warrant any charges, until recently. The local sheriff announced in June of 2023, nearly 35 years after she went missing, that he believes he has evidence that could lead to charges.
Stay tuned as we investigate and follow this case.

Celia Beth van Zanten
Tumblr media
On December 22nd, 1971 "Beth" left her house in Anchorage, Alaska to go to a local store for some soda, she never returned.
Her body would be discovered 3 days later revealing she had been gagged, her hands tied behind her back and she had been sexually assaulted. He cause of death....she froze to death. From examining the scene, it appeared as if she may have escaped from her captor and fell down a hill, but with her hands tied, she was unable to make it back up the hill and the Alaskan December temperatures took what was left of her life.
Alaskan authorities had no real leads in the case, but it has always been assumed that since the early 70's the Alaskan Butcher Baker Robert Hansen was working the area of Anchorage, he was most likely the suspect. He has denied this many times, and the manor in which Beth was assaulted did not really fit his history of crimes, suspicion has always loomed in this case. Except for one small piece of evidence, anyone who knows the case of the Butcher Baker, knows he documented his crime scenes on a map he kept hidden in his attic. This map has become well known as investigators used it to convince him to admit to his crimes. Robert had placed an X where Beth's body was recovered.
Stay tuned as we look into this case further.
