I made this blog so I could be super Indian with my posts. Most of the GIFs and edits are not mine unless I mention it. I am in college and because of that I don't have time to update this blog on a regular basis. Which is a good thing I guess: I need to get those Asian A's so my parents can brag about me wherever they go.

As a mature person I like to assume that everyone around me is similar to the way I believe we should treat others: accepting, nice, caring, and open. But, like my high school chem teacher famously stated: "Never assume. Because all you're doing is making as ass out of you and me." I should have listened to her...
Please tell me what is it about Indian girls hating each other for no reason at all? I understand that Bollywood movies have taught us to hate other girls we see as a threat (I mean really, that's society in general); but at what cost? Because there's this girl in one of my classes, and I swear to the Gods my parents believe in--I have not said one word to her but all she does is throw dirty looks at me.
We need to stop seeing each other as a threat and realize that we're all people. The minute we stop bringing people down, the faster we can grow as a community. I've noticed that especially in the area I live in (the "valley" as all the software/tech people like to say) there is so much competition *cue the moral of 3 Idiots* and it just upsets me so much.

A lot of people say that your 20's are the best years of your life: you graduate college, go to grad school, get a job, and finally be independent. For Indian parents it's time to GET MARRIED.
My parents are not super orthodox, so they're ok with me having a Bollywood moment and finding a guy on my own. But it's funny because for those of you who have Indian parents like mine: we can get married to whomever we want, but we can't have a boyfriend. So it's like: get married ASAP, but pick a guy the day before your wedding so no one will have to know you had a boyfriend.
My parents told me that I had a lot of time before I actually get married--for them it's 24, for me it's 27--so I don't need to worry about it now. But with their philosophy on marriage and my lack of interaction with guys, I think I do need to be worrying a bit.
They want a South Indian, who is preferably a Doctor, Computer Scientist, or Engineer. I just want a guy with a great personality (amazing looks wouldn't hurt) and has a stable career doing what he loves.
And I think these two different philosophies really hurt young adults who are born in America (or someplace outside their native country) and their parents who still hold certain values and traditions. I mean, do we have to change how we feel about someone just because they don't look like us, or come from a different background? Should I shun every non-Indian guy who comes up to me because he won't "understand" my background?
At first I didn't understand the concept of being an ABCD, but I do now. The fact that we're tied to two very different backgrounds is really hard when we're forced to make life-changing decisions. And this doesn't just apply to falling in love but doing anything that you love that doesn't fall into the spectrum of "what Indians normally do."

Siddharth and Samantha are engaged.
WHY?
I read that they've only been going out for 6 months; which really isn't enough for anyone to know that they've met the person they want to spend the rest of their life with. Idk, it's my opinion.
They make a really cute couple though.
