Bringing this back to challenge myself to coherently speak Hebrew, after this post English will be forbidden on this blog. toki pona is allowed if needed or if I just feel like speaking it instead. Time to be understood by very few people!

op I have several questions about your Japanese but most importantly why are you not using the honorific お when speaking to a stranger???? like お名前は何ですか is literally what every Japanese course I’ve taken has made me memorize exactly? To the point that I immediately heard something was off when you said it??
I feel like I’m missing a joke here but I don’t know any other languages

Ew, I still haven't changed the name of this one? My name is Maws! Y'know, a name not derived from anything to my knowledge antisemitic.

The online Japanese course that no one talks about
Okay so I’m not a langblr and I never plan to be. However. What I do know from following a ton of them is that no one talks about Minato.
Now you may be thinking, ‘What’s Minato?’. It’s a website that was recommended to me by a Japanese Studies university professor for learning Japanse at home.
It’s literally the best resource out there and it’s free (funded by the Japanese government). You can choose between self-study and tutor support-led courses.
There are courses in Hiragana, Katakana, and the general language (from levels A1 to A2), and you can download a certificate and study record after completion of a course.
Here’s the link. Or if you want to type it: https://minato-jf.jp
Go. Learn some actual Japanese.

This post is 6 years old, and Duolingo now offers a Japanese course. It’s free and fun practice, but unless you’re constantly reading the comments, it doesn’t explain nearly enough to be used on its own!

I really wish I had a Japanese speaking friend I could ask some questions because reading linguistic articles on Wikipedia is so hard to navigate, especially when I don’t know half of the grammatical terms, and trying to decipher Google translate is difficult since there is no explanation at all and I can’t even be sure it’s correct.
