Preview at Rest of the Season
The Kentucky Wildcats are nearing the end of their season standing at 8th in the SEC, with an in-conference record of 7-8 and overall record of 8-14. This has been the worst record of any Kentucky team in a century. The Cats have four more games to turn it around going into the SEC tournament. They have to play South Carolina twice, Ole Miss once, and Texas A&M once. Kentucky should beat both A&M and South Carolina, but Ole Miss will be a challenge. At this rate, the Cats must win out at the SEC tournament to make the NCAA tournament.

Post-Florida Game
Last night, the Kentucky Wildcats played a great game. They lost 71-67, and were only down 2 points with 8 seconds left. In the final possession of the game, we missed a three pointer and got the offensive rebound. Coach John Calipari called a timeout, and drew up a play. Coming out of the timeout, the Cats looked like boys amongst men as their coach drew up another failed play in crunch time. The Cats turned the ball over and lost the game. It’s not their fault, though. It is Coach Cal’s for not being able to draw up a play that results in even an open shot.

Post-Vanderbilt Game
It was a good day for the Kentucky WIldcats today. Luckily, they won a close game, but sadly it should not have been so close. The Cats were up 17 points in the second half, but ended up only winning by four points. Jacob Toppin stepped up with 12 of his 16 points in the second half. Davion Mintz played another great game with 18 points. I really hope he returns next year, considering he has eligibility because of the COVID season. He is in a 2-year graduate program at Kentucky, so hopefully that will convince him to return one more year.

Post-Tennessee Game
The Cats played great today. They pulled out a huge win against the #19 team in the nation, Tennessee. The Cats won 70-55 in a huge win for the third game in a row. Isaiah Jackson had 16 points and an amazing reverse slam, Davion Mintz had 15 points from behind the arc, and Toppin had 10 points of the bench. The Cats play style today actually reflected that of the programs. If they continue to play like this, the SEC tournament will be a very interesting time, and hopefully the Cats can make a run for the NCAA tournament.

NCAA Tournament
After the Cats took their seventh loss in eight games last night, the nail has been placed in the coffin for the regular season. There is still hope for the tournament, though. The cats were down eight with five minutes left. They ended up only losing by one and made 14 three’s. This is the first time of a Kentucky team since the last time they won a championship. This finish is very promising. Coach Cal was not even upset. He said it was the best finish to a game all season, and hopefully the Cats can build off of it. If the Cats win the SEC tournament, they get an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Post-Arkansas Game
It was an emotional loss for the Cats tonight. This loss is not on the players, though. Coach Calipari is an inferior coach, regardless of his hall of fame induction. The boys fought hard and shot 10-17 from 3 in the second half. They were down 2 with 12 seconds left and Davion Mintz hit a huge three. Arkansas pushed right back, missed a layup, got the rebound, and got the foul. With 4.3 seconds left after the free-throws, the Cats called a timeout. The best play Cal could come up with was to give Sarr, the center who shot 3-5 from three tonight, the ball in the backcourt. Sarr threw the ball away and it was game over. It was a miserable loss.

Promising Transfer
On a very promising note for next season, the Kentucky Wildcats have just landed star transfer, Oscar Tshiebwe, from West Virginia. Oscar is a very physical player and he just happens to play like a man. This is what we lack this season, but luckily Calipari has a plan for him. Oscar has already moved to Kentucky and is practicing with the team. Cal has him out there to help better the guys playing this season by making them play against more physical competition. This is exactly what Cal did when Enes Kanter enrolled, but wasn't eligible, and it made it to the final four before a heart breaking loss. Hopefully, Oscar will be able to turn the Cats' season around.

Post-Tennessee Game
Kentucky is now ranked 10th in the SEC after a crushing loss to Tennessee. Kentucky was up 10 points with 10 minutes left in the game, then as expected, Tennessee comes out of the gate and goes on an 8-0 run. On one comforting note, both Jaden Springer and Keon Johnson had career nights for Tennessee. Springer had a career high of 23 points and Keon Johnson had a career high of 27 points, 17 of which were scored in the second half. Kentucky played great in transition because they have the athletes and raw talent to do so. These players just need more guidance and better coaching.

2020-21 College Basketball
There are considered to be four blue bloods in college basketball: UK, Duke, UNC, and Kansas. This is the first time in 29 NCAA tournaments that none of the blue bloods will be a 1 seed, with one exception being 2013-14, when Kentucky still went to the national championship as an 8 seed. This is insane and the one-and-done trend is catching up to Kentucky and Duke. In 17 of the last 29 national championships, at least two of the four have received a 1 seed. The foursome is also responsible for 13 national championships in this time period. Kansas is currently the highest ranked at NO. 15 in the nation.

Post-Alabama Game
Kentucky loses yet another game. The Cats were up two points at the final commercial timeout. They were outscored 18-5 in the final four minutes of the game by the Crimson Tide. This is the first sweep that Alabama has pulled of against Kentucky since the 1988-89 season. This is horrible and the team should either get it together or pack their bags. The Cats turned the ball over 17 times in the game, and they just have no one to look to in the final minutes of the game. It is ridiculous that this would even happen and Coach Cal needs to figure it out.

Post-LSU Game
The Cats played really well last night. Surprisingly, they showed a lot of promise and played like a team. Brandon Boston Jr. played great and had 18 points and 6 rebounds. He showed flashes of what everyone has expected him to play like all season. Keion Brooks Jr. played really well too with 15 points and 9 rebounds. The team overall played really well and they just simplified their game and made the easy plays. On the other hand, LSU played horrible defense, but this game is still a flash of hope for the season. The Cats play at Alabama for a tough road game. We’ll see what they can do.

Post-Georgia Game
Yet again, Kentucky has lost and is actively blowing the season. It is insane to me. We were up six points with under three minutes left, yet somehow we still blow the game. Georgia went on a 7-0 run to end the game and ended it with an inbound cupcake of a layup to go up one with 1.3 seconds left. These kids don’t play mentally or physically tough. They get bullied. The team allowed 16 offensive rebounds and turned the ball over 17 times. This cannot continue if Kentucky has any hopes of making it to the NCAA tournament. Same can be said for the players making it to the NBA.

Post-Auburn Game
The cats have officially lost their 8th game of the season. Kentucky is 4-8 and has taken a tough loss. Sadly, Coach John Calipari continues to play 5-star recruit Brandon Boston Jr. Boston is one of the most overrated recruits in Kentucky history in my opinion. For all of the hype, he can’t do anything. He misses open shots, throws up heavily contested shots and misses, turns the ball over consistently, and takes the air out of our offense. Calipari has made it a habit of prioritizing the players’ draft stock, rather than the success of the program. Calipari cannot keep this up if he wants to keep his job.

UK Basketball
Kentucky basketball is one of the blue bloods of basketball. With eight national championships, they have the second most national championships in college basketball history. Recently, Kentucky has not been playing up to the hype or their history. They started off the season going 1-6 in a very cold streak. This is the worst start to a season that Kentucky has had in 109 years. The last time this happened, President Taft was in office. Kentucky is now 4-7 and tied for fourth in the SEC at 3-1 in conference. UK is currently playing Kentucky at Auburn and is up 25-21, who is ranked 12th in the SEC. Auburn just got back their star player from injury, and if Kentucky can win, it could be the turning point for the season.
