Plastic canvas has captivated me lately!! Im making three tissue box covers, one in each coaster color haha. Red one is almost done and will likely be posted tomorrow. As for the green one, i need more canvas!! Ill be making keychains in the meantime to use up leftovers

Blanket/ playmat #2 is underway, this time with a lightly padded texture! Video is 2 minutes of me stuffing the latest complete row (quiet, birdsong), then 2 minutes of awkward weaving because my phone is in the way of the very long unwieldy shuttles (loud, loom noises). Each pocket is completely sealed between the two layers of fabric as they are woven, no seams, no way to open it again except for scissors.

I made this feverish, unwinding loom for @youremysunshine8 's bday, since she is reading Emily Wilson's translation of The Odyssey.

It's made from an old painting frame with the canvas removed. I painted the wood a darker color and hammered in a couple hundred tacks, which I strung with white yarn.

The weaving itself took a long time, since I've never done that before and wasn't using a real loom, though I did make a make-shift heddle from a ruler. The meander is woven in soumak, which means you wrap the weft around each warp instead of just going over-under; this takes a long time but gives it a really cool dimension.

I carved Penelope's hands from chipboard, and painted them the same color as the loom. I wanted to convey the "muscular, firm hand" from Wilson's translation.

had a lovely rainy day today & plied this trans flag merino i’ve been spinning after it sat in my stash for about 2.5 years!!! it spun like an absolute dream & i am excited to try knitting myself a lil beanie hat with it !!

Hey! Welcome to my Tumblr! The first thing to know is that I have no idea what I’m doing, but let’s not let that stop us! I love weaving on potholder looms of various sizes and shapes. I’m fixing to start experimenting with a variety of textures and upcycled materials + checking out some pin loom and twinning loom action. I’m super excited, stay tuned!

I grew dahlias this summer so that’s the subject for my text tapestry. No I will not be doing every tiny area in the cartoon. I made it digitally from a photo I took of my dahlias and I didn’t feel like taking the time to edit it further. I wanted to hurry up and start weaving haha. I will simplify on the fly. Still going to be difficult though!! I am really enjoying it already 🌸
