I made this website mock-up and decided to make it simple but professional. I used the same colours throughout the website, iOS logo and the iOS version of the website.
I placed the search bar right underneath the logo so that it was easily found, and then used the pictures from Trashion underneath that, so that the audience would know what website they are on by looking at the pictures.
I used sans-serif fonts throughout the website plan, as they are easier to read and look more professional against the layout. In the mobile version, however, I went for a serif font for the main text, as I got inspiration from Cosmopolitan’s news articles on Snapchat, which made the article look far more legitimate if they were using serif fonts throughout.

With this, I have tried to break the text up by including a quote in the middle of the page. I feel like this did not work as well as it could’ve, although I do like the fact that the background of the quote is pink, as it’s eye catching.
To me, this looks professional, especially due to the use of the serif font at the top, which a lot of magazines actually do themselves, such as (although they only used a serif font when including the quote):
The spread below used a serif font throughout, however I felt like because the text was so small compared to the size of the page, I should make it easier to read for the audience. I followed this idea on my own page spread and placed the quote on top of Ashley Tisdale's body, with speechmarks on either side to show that it is a quote.

The poster is very simplistic, with its hue being pink, and the logo right in the middle in big letters so that it stands out and catches people’s eyes.
I have designed the invitation to be simplistic and used the colours from the website mock-up so that they matched well. To me, it looks like everything is joined together due to the lack of gaps between the logo and the text above and below it.
The idea for a photobooth and customised photobooth strips came to me after seeing photos from a wedding online, where guests could post their taken snapshots straight onto their accounts. I feel like such an entertainment feature of the party would make it memorable for those attending, as they could keep the strips and this would therefore promote it to them and their friends and family.
I have also designed a party bag, where I placed the logo in front of a photo of the main model featured in the first issue of the magazine. I feel like this would make a memorable impression on those attending, as the logo is stamped in front and most places do not bother featuring their logos on goodie bags, unless they are a high end brand.

I have made this magazine for my production day.
The front cover to me does not look as professional as I would’ve wanted it to be, purely because I could not find enough fonts that worked well together and looked professional at the same time. I used different colours to reflect the brand of “Trashion” and put the title at the top, and cut out the model’s head so that it sat on top of the logo. I saw this done by many magazines and decided to try the idea out myself. I also included a barcode in it to make it look realistic.
The page about Judy Berger does not look professional enough for me, as the left side of the page is not broken down by anything, and makes the text look heavy and hard to read. I changed this on the other side, by putting the text into two columns and the text amount looks like it has been made considerably smaller, even though both sides have similar word counts.

With the cover for Halsey’s album, I decided to go for a light pink, following her colour scheme from the original cover. I also chose to use a photo of mountains, as once again, a similar theme is explored in the original. The split effect was added on there to make it look like as if the reality was not as it seemed, hence the blur effect on one of the sides.
I used a simple font, Bebas Neue as well as Strangelove as I felt like the two really compliment one another and are easy to read. I felt like this was important, and choosing a different font, perhaps a cursive one, would’ve taken the attention away from the background.
I also made a cover for All Time Low, where I took a photo of a galaxy (because the future often links in with spaceships and space) and inverted it to get lighter colours.  I feel like this effect works well, as it also looks like splattered paint.
I changed the effect of the fonts so that they looked like they were blending in with the background and didn’t stand out as much as they would have if they were to be black.

I made this business card in order to promote an event at my place of work. As it was related to Mother’s Day, I went for soft pinks and dusky pinks in order to relate to the event and show which kind of audience we wanted to aim these business cards at.
I added flowers behind the text at the front to make the front stand out and look more girly and related to spring, as the event would be happening during spring time.

These are examples of clever typography. The first one, focuses on the word "twins" however plays on the fact that twins refers to two people, and replaces the N with a sideways 2, so that it is still readable for the person viewing it.

I designed this business card for “a young and funky company” however I still wanted it to reflect professionalism.
My initial idea began on my phone, where I messily drew the "!deas" part of the business card so that I would not forget it. I liked the idea of replacing a letter by a symbol to make it more unique and stand out against the other letters, but still make sense.
I chose these colours after browsing through colour schemes on the internet. I knew that I didn't want a white background, and therefore I looked for a colour scheme featuring a darker colour, which the brighter colours could then contrast against. I also used different colours for each word in order to make them different from each other, but still look put together as they compliment one another.
Each word has a different kerning, as I adjusted them with the size of the text - "design" had to have the widest one due to the font I have picked, because otherwise it would have been unreadable.

The business card at the very top was made in Photoshop as I felt more comfortable with using it, however I then went onto InDesign and replicated this, just without the background.
I first made this business card, and this was my very first attempt at making something in InDesign. It does not look professional, and frankly, resembles something that a 5 year old could have made in Paint. I used the same font throughout to maintain consistency however I feel like this makes it look bland and doesn't allow the eye to be drawn to a particular bit in the design.
Following this, I decided to sketch out a new design which would look more creative and eye catching.
The sketch allowed me to have a base which I then worked from. My first design looks pretty similar to the planned one, however my last name is written in a cursive font, rather than a sans-serif font, like originally planned because I think it looks more aesthetically appealing to have the two fonts constrast one another. I picked a light pink, as I didn't want the colour to be vibrant and give off the wrong impression. "Maya" is written in a sans-serif font called Bebas. I like it because it's a bold font, and I thought that it would suit my design the best, as it would allow me to put stuff inside the letters without it looking too crowded. I finally decided to stray away from my original idea, and got rid of the writing inside the letters, and instead placed this information below my name. I put my last name underneath my first, but stretched it out along the entirety of the length of the word by changing the kerning of the letters. Because I changed the font used for my last name, I think it gives the design a break in the middle, so that it is clear that there is a space between the top and bottom information. Alongide this, I chose colours that are a bit more toned down, and are from the same colour family.

This typography poster has a contrast between the two meanings due to the use of white and red colours of the text. The red text is written with a sans serif font (possibly Bebas), whereas the white is written in a serif font, which in itself causes a contrast on the poster.
“Bad typography is everywhere” stands out against the background due to its’ bright colour and I think that it has a hidden meaning as to how visible bad typography is in the media.
“Good typography is invisible” is written in a white text, which has a drop shadow added to it in order to make it readable against the same coloured background. This might be a metaphor in which it states that we do not often notice the good things, but focus on the bad [typography], thus making the proper work invisible.

In this case, the designer used typography with colour to intend on showing Buzz Lightyear’s figure by writing him with his famous “To Infinity and Beyond”. Upon first glance, the words are not visible, and the figure resembles a distorted one as to the one from the movie due to the slight breaks in between his statue.
In my opinion, this is highly effective as you almost have to squint your eyes to be able to see that the picture is actually mostly formed using words.

This is an example of an artistic design through the use of photography. The designer used a poem and then shaped it into a raven. This shape allows the audience to know what the poem is about before they look closer, and attracts the eye to the visually pleasing layout of the writing.
The font used in this is Times New Roman and shows bold, highlighted parts of the poem to perhaps show a hidden meaning to the poem.
