I made these flowers to challenge the association of fragility to women and flowers. I did this by making them out of non-degradable, recycled plastic bottles.

I took photographs of several women holding these flowers and turned the photos into a pattern using photoshop. This is to represent the repetitiveness of sexual assault and the unity of women.

Pattern Application

I wanted to turn this pattern into something that is symbolic of retaliation and strength against sexual assault. I edited the pattern onto women’s underwear as a way fro women to reclaim their own sexuality.

I integrated the pattern I had previously made into some abstract paintings and began to experiment with different types of media.

I created a triptych of mixed media abstract paintings representative of the places sexual assault occurs the most. (Indoor public space, outdoor public space, place of residency)

Three Cats

I was tasked to get to know a randomly selected peer and to create a diptych of posters. I decided to create posters recreating a conversation we had.

Printing Experimentation

Here, I experimented with drypoint printing and Lino printing.

I began looking into typography and the anatomy of type. Here, I developed my own modular typefaces using a stencil.

Looking into typography, I decided to make a comic based on the history of the typeface ‘Trajan’.

Knockers

I asked several members of the public to draw what they considered to be the ‘ideal pair of breasts’. From this I took a number of these sketches and turned them into door ‘knockers’. This topic challenges the humerus boundaries of a potentially socially sensitive topic.

Colour Experimentation

I began experimenting with chromatography and with how ink responds to bleach, acetone and water. This was to understand the deconstruction of colour.

The use of colour for seduction

I looked at how colour is used to depict women in non-contemporary art. I found that blue could be seen as a symbol of innocence and red could be seen as a symbol of seduction. I contrasted the subvert sexuality witching certain pieces of art by projecting them over a more superficial demonstration of seduction.
