if there's one thing i'd call a "bad" dev decision in disco elysium it's the sheer amount of things you can permanently miss out on through unlucky dice rolls. not just small bits but major impactful sequences, in a game that is nothing but story. and yeah, sure, replayability, but who actually does that? definitely not enough times to see everything without savescumming don't even pretend.

there really aren't distinct enough routes to be anywhere near a must-replay type of game and the advertised "open-ended" murder mystery forces its reveal either way if you failed to solve it. i imagine the playthrough of someone who got cut short on and completely missed, idk, the church club scene and the phasmid despite trying to go for those quests, and see no justification for the game being a good bit below its best for that player.
