Now I know I have not completely finished the series so there may be some inaccuracies or details left out, but fundamentally this is about the scene in TYBW, where Szayel appears to taunt him within his own mind, mostly because I noticed some things about it.(Under the cut cause my ramblings be long.)

Which is:

A. Szayel, is not in the form they physically met in, Mayuri only fought and directly met the man at his strongest in his resurrection. I notice that bleach tends to choose how characters appear extremely carefully, so I do think this holds some interesting weight to pull apart.

B. The method through which Szayel and Pernida are defeated, fundamentally was through Nemu. Interestingly, at least in terms of non-filler and other such things i may not have seen yet, my only known fight where he does in fact lose, is one where Nemu, is not interacted with as a major part of the defeat. Which is Uryu's fight.

C. I do believe Mayuri cares about nemu, he's just… Well he's a naturally fucked up man so the ways he shows this are… All over the place, though I will say I note that he has more growth over the series in showing it more properly, like as examples of him going from rejecting healing her, to at least healing her after, to handing it immediately to her in the middle of a fight once there's a short time for him to do so. also the way he talks to her grows much more respectful over the course of the series as I note, holding her closer to an equal which well, means a lot coming from this man.

With these notes, I notice that in this scene, it's fairly obvious that mayuri is having a complete and utter break and is digging into some way to reject the pain of this reality, even if that involves using the idea that he was being a fool and thinking of someone as perfect, could not be destroyed.

But not only that, Szayel's appearance has some connections outside of just the perfection manner, as noted Szayel's and Pernida's defeat are BOTH the person doing something to Nemu that results in their downfall?

Szayel lost because he targeted nemu, as when he regenerated from her, he absorbed the superhuman drug that Mayuri put inside of her in case of something happening, causing him to lose the battle entirely.

Pernida ate Nemu but couldn't eat her brain because of mayuri, and such the control centre for her growth cause him to grow and explodes thanks to the uncontrolled cell growth within him.

Mayuri keeping Szayel outside of his resurrection where such a thing happened could also be a further rejection of reality in this moment, that he doesn't want to acknowledge not only this sacrifice that happened, but any time that Nemu had to be sacrificed, like his brain his completely attempting to block all of anything slightly relevant to that.

But still, Szayel broke through, in his weaker form, to taunt him, but a form that was easier for Mayuri to swallow and reject. A form that could easily give Mayuri the control of the situation he was desperately searching for in that moment where he could suffocate the loss he experienced.

Enough to push forward for that time, even if it hurts.

Pro tip: just bc you think you're good at art, don't make your very first project in a new medium something thats batshit levels of complexity and also very explicitly warned against because it'll turn out like shit you FOOL

(To clarify, they don't actually look that bad, but I was only able to get a single print lined up properly and ofc its the worst looking one on the left) btw I was using paper stencils and taping them to the screen, and was actually following the guide I'm using, which said to use paper??? But have watched vids in the meantime of ppl using actual.. like the clear plastic ones. Which sounds WAY more sensible bc I only was able to do three fn prints before the paper shit itself. Lookit this.. curled up sad little thing i used for first layer (okay not curled anymore bc I pressed it for some reason?? As if I'm gonna use this method ever again)

Anyway im making a bunch of patches for my partner who's a musician. They have a shit ton of shows lined up, so lots of opportunities to sell merch. And I still made the design needlessly complex, with 2 colors🤦‍♂️ but I'm starting to figure shit out and am pretty proud of the screens I made (absolutely not using stencil method for this, paper or otherwise) its the uh. Whatever... the method where you paint onto the screen with shit for where you do and don't want ink to go. And I have a lil setup and everything lol

Shit is so fn cobbled together, like my method for lining up the second color involved me doing DaVinci code-level puzzle solving skills like. equations were floating in the air and shit, it was magical I stfg DONT LOOK at the little triangle of paper hanging there, it's fine I'm fine I got this dw:3
