❝  seriously? ❞ he asked, half filled cup nearly dropping on the floor as his hand accidentally lets go of it. he rolled his eyes. ❝ then you add the alcohol, drugs. it’s bound to be a fun day. ❞ he said sarcastically. thankfully he doesn’t have to deal with the effects of alcohol directly with kids. 

❝  do you ever think about how some of the happiest days of our lives turn out to be the worst ?   just because of all the hype and excitement and accidents.   i mean, don’t get me wrong, being in the operating room is probably one of my favorite places to be,  ❞      she paused, head shaking.   she loved the operating room, especially when it meant getting to do what she loved.     ❝  two days from now.   i already have a bunch of cool looking plastic eggs at my apartment.  ❞

even if they were a little late, sofia wouldn’t mind.   she’d just be excited that her mami was home and not locked away at the hospital for once.    ❝  you should join the dark side for a day and see what it’s like.   i think you’d probably be amazed by some of the crap you’d see.  ❞

         “ i know you didn’t want to change me, but i — i needed to change. myself. and i’m sorry, you have no idea, i am so, so sorry that i took it all out on you. i know you, i know you were just trying to process this too, i know. ”   it’s so much easier to say that now, now that the worst of it has past, even if the memories do still keep her up at night, if the nightmares do tear her from what little sleep she does get.  “ i know. but i didn’t… we didn’t know that then. we thought… we all thought he’d lose it. because we didn’t know that help was coming. our flare didn’t work, it wouldn’t go off when someone flew overhead. ”   it’s hard, talking about those days, those nights, no matter how long she’s had to deal with it,  “ i cried. i cried like a bitch when they, ”  she pauses, because she hates saying rescued, tries to come up with something else to use in its place,  “ when they found us. i just wanted you. you and sofia. ”

her entire career had been made of fixing things; making broken things stronger than they’d ever been before, and part of that had came with arizona.   callie was a healer, she healed, or at least attempted to.     ❝  i should have respected your boundaries, and i should’ve respected my oath.   if i would’ve just been your doctor when you needed me to be, maybe we could’ve avoided a lot of the pain, but i couldn’t, arizona.   i couldn’t be your wife and your doctor, and i’m really sorry for that.  ❞      maybe her wife didn’t wanna hear it, but callie had take some fault in it all.   she hadn’t been on the plane, yet she’d always been there for the aftermath of it.   she’d been mark’s voice, and maybe she’d overstepped, but it was healer in her just wanting it all fixed.     ❝  i don’t blame hunt for what happened, but i do blame the hospital.   i think that maybe them being sued was warranted, because someone knew of that company’s failures.   they had to.  ❞     playing the blame game was over, but the more she thought about it, the more angry she became.     ❝  sofia is the only reason i didn’t completely lose it without knowing about you and mark.   she held me together.  ❞

           this wasn’t the original plan for the evening — really, her intentions were purely to go to the party, drink way too much, and dance her ass off because midterms were finally done and she didn’t have a test to study for. that being said, arizona is definitely not upset with the way things have turned out. quite the opposite actually.  “ alright, ”   she murmurs, hands trailing down until she hooks fingers into the front belt loops of the other girl’s jeans, holds her close as she can as she nips at a full lower lip. she only draws back when she can’t breathe anymore and winks at callie before drawing a breath and leaning in again, pulling her into another searing kiss, this time cutting it short to trail kisses along callie jaw, stopping just beside her ear,  “ let me know if you want me to stop. ”

damn the girl who’d hurt this woman, but praise the loss all the same.   whatever twist of fate had brought them together, callie would be sure to praise her thanks later that night.   her body reacted to every touch of the blonde, her gentle demeanor and lingering lips leaving the latina in a flushed heat of desire.   this wasn’t her usual behavior, but there was nothing usual about the night.     ❝  keep going,  ❞     she encourages once more, one arm looped around arizona’s neck while the other gripped at the waistline of her pants in anticipation and excitement.
