On Tuesday, May 12th at 11:00AM ET you can view the event LIVE!
PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA WILL PARTICIPATE in a unique Catholic-Evangelical Leadership Summit on Overcoming Poverty at Georgetown next week that addresses key questions related to the moral, human and economic costs of poverty in the United States.
The President will discuss the topic of poverty and opportunity May 12 with well-known Harvard public policy professor Robert Putnam and Arthur Brooks, president of the American Enterprise Institute.
“Georgetown University is privileged to host this unprecedented and timely summit of Catholic, evangelical and other religious leaders coming together to make overcoming poverty a clear moral imperative and urgent national priority,” says Georgetown President John J. DeGioia. “The university is particularly honored to welcome President Obama to join this unique dialogue with Robert Putnam and Arthur Brooks.”
Washington Post columnist and McCourt School of Public Policy adjunct professor E.J. Dionne Jr. will moderate the discussion, and the conversation will be webcast at georgetown.edu.

External Funding Opportunity: 2015 USAID Donald Payne Fellowship Program
We have great news!!! Are you a U.S. citizen with a GPA higher than 3.2/4.0, seeking to start a two-year grad program relevant to International Development in fall? We are thrilled to let you know about the 2015 USAID Donald Payne Fellowship Program! The Program is funded by USAID and managed by Howard University.
The Payne Program is designed to attract outstanding young people to careers in international development as USAID Foreign Service Officers. The Payne Fellowship Program provides benefits valued at up to $90,000 over two years toward a two-year master's degree, arranges internships in Washington D.C. and at USAID missions overseas, and provides professional development and support activities. Fellows who successfully complete the program become USAID Foreign Service Officers.  Fellows may use the fellowship to attend a two-year master's program in a U.S. institution to study an area of relevance to the USAID Foreign Service, including international development, international relations, public policy, business administration, foreign languages, economics, agriculture, environmental sciences, health, or urban planning at a graduate or professional school approved by the Payne Program. At the end of the two-year fellowship, Fellows enter the USAID Foreign Service.
Applicants must be college seniors or graduates looking to start graduate school in the fall of the year they apply, have GPAs of at least 3.2 and be U.S. citizens. The program welcomes applications from those with any undergraduate major and encourages applications from members of minority groups historically underrepresented in the USAID Foreign Service and those with financial need. Information and application materials for the program are available at www.paynefellows.org. The application deadline is January 20, 2015.

October has come again! What do you have in mind? Pumpkin pie? Halloween? Make some fresh maple syrup? You have better plans now that you are a prospective McCourt student, because October is the Month of McCourt!
Each week the McCourt School will offer different events that highlight what the McCourt School means to the students, faculty, staff, and the entire community -- while also providing a preview of the exciting things that will be shaping the McCourt School in the future.  The month will be an opportunity to celebrate not only the one-year anniversary but also our community at the McCourt School.

Electronic delivery, if offered by your UG or Grad institution (for example via Scrip-Safe)
Submitted directly from your UG or Grad institution by mail
Submitted by you in an unopened self-assembled packet by mail

Client-Based Policy Analysis Capstone
Students in two of The McCourt School’s degree programs – the Master of Public Policy (MPP) and the Master in International Development Policy (MIDP) – have the opportunity to complete a client-based policy analysis capstone project as a requirement of their degree. The MPP and MIDP degrees emphasize quantitative and analytical skills for designing and managing sound public policy, within a core curriculum in microeconomics, quantitative methods, and policy process and management.

Dual degrees provide students the opportunity to combine two skill sets and increase networks and career opportunities. Students can earn both degrees in less time than it would take to complete them independently.
