Is there a Cost-free RuneScape Classic Account?
It is highly unlikely that anyone will give their Runescape Classic account away, even the most generous of people. The accounts are extremely scarce today. The Runescape classic is now only accessible to members on a trial basis, or accounts created during the classic time period. Although, there is one exception. Members had the opportunity to upgrade to classic in 2009, which allows members to use the classic version for the rest of their lives. (At least it seems to be so long as you're a member.)
This information is taken from Runescape's site: "Only two types of accounts can play RuneScape Classic: those who played RuneScape Classic at least once from August 3rd 2005 to February 3rd, 2006 and those who played during the open two-week period from 11th November 2009 to 25th November 2009. You must be an active member to play RuneScape Classic during this period. "
Players who have been enabled for classic are not affected by this feature. Although, players may only access the Classic Server with membership. If your membership runs out it won't be able to access Runescape Classic until you renew your membership.
The following quote comes from Runescape's news in May 2010: "If your membership lapses, you will not be able to log into Classic again until you become a member again. Your account will be "classic-enabled" regardless of when your membership expires. This means that you will not lose access to Classic forever in the event that you let your membership expire. CALISTOMEBEL It will be restored after you become a member.
