To help promote the PBS series The Great American Read, every week WCVE does a “Guess the Book” Instagram Story. This is a concept that I created, planned, designed, and executed myself.
Each Instagram story features three clues, emojis, a quote, and fun fact about the author or book. The following day we reveal the answer on the Instagram story and pick one person who submitted the right answer and tag them. This is one I created for “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” by Mark Haddon.

For WCVE’s Twitter, I created these “Motivation Monday” graphics using different PBS figures, which have become popular on our Twitter. Here are a few examples of them.

This is an Instagram story that I created for WCVE on Valentine’s Day. It was a fun way to increase engagement on our Instagram account and we got a lot of responses to the polls!

To look back at 2017, I created an audiogram using a small clip from a popular Virginia Currents story about a tourist who fell in love with Richmond and its people.

Best of WCVE 2017
For the end of the year for our social media, I came up with the idea to reflect on WCVE’s best moments of 2017. The holiday season was a busy time for us, so this was a simple way to generate content during a busy time as well as recycle old content so that we would have more time to focus on other tasks. I came up with ideas for each post and created them.
(Note: Facebook will credit the most recent person to schedule a post as the one who published it, which is why some of these posts say my supervisor published it, even though I created the post.)
1) To encourage people to become a member and gain access to PBS Passport, we did a Facebook live stream of the first episode of Downton Abbey... in sock puppet form! The point of live stream was to say, “you could be watching the real Downton Abbey right now by becoming a member.” It was a successful campaign and also a fun moment from 2017.

2) To highlight Ready To Learn, I chose a fun event from the summer of 2017.

3) I chose a few pictures from a radio event in 2017 to highlight the radio side of WCVE.

4) “What’s Bugging You?” is a wildly popular radio program at WCVE. I turned a portion of their most popular episode from 2017 into an audiogram, which you can watch here.

5) The solar eclipse was a big part of 2017 for everyone! We had a lot of fun watching the astronomical event at WCVE.
Tumblr media
6) Science Matters is an education initiative at WCVE. In 2017, they hosted “Dissecting Science: Getting To Mars” and featured a panel of experts to discuss the journey of colonizing Mars. I chose a short clip from our Facebook live stream of the event, which you can watch here, and captioned some of the words to emphasize the importance of this topic.
Tumblr media
7) WCVE produces a variety of documentaries. “Polytrauma Rehab in the VA: Compassionate Care“ highlighted the important work of the McGuire Hospital Polytrauma Rehab Center. You can click here to watch a short segment that I edited out and captioned for Facebook.
Tumblr media
8) Virginia Currents is a weekly radio program that shares stories from the local community. Everyone in Richmond loves Richmond, which is why I chose to highlight this story of a Richmond tourist who fell in love with the city and its people. I took a short segment from the radio story and turned it into an audiogram, which you can watch here.
Tumblr media
9) During Ken Burns’ Vietnam War documentary series, we collected many stories from Virginians about their experiences from the Vietnam War era. Vietnam War: Virginia Remembers was a huge part of 2017 for WCVE, which is why I decided to re-post this video of POW Paul Galanti. To watch the video, click here.
Tumblr media
10) This post highlighted our many interactions throughout the year with our listeners and members.

Because of the recent algorithm changes, business pages on Facebook are not appearing as often in people’s feed. I made this video for WCVE’s Facebook followers to let them know how they can change settings so that WCVE still appears in their feed.
