ZITS surprisingly can't stay regressed around each other for long.
Their banter always accidentally brings adulthood back to the surface, which is frustrating for all of them because they keep trying to have playdates.
The best solution they've found is to have one of them stay big and babysit because it gives their rascal energy a focus.

im truthing this now. im watching Gem's new episode and him showing up, attacking her with his trident, and giggling about it was so baby to me
Though he was shy at first, Etho warmed up to Gem pretty quickly, and now he seeks her out to follow around and pester when he regresses.
#with this and the archaeology expedition#the vibe i get from them is like. alternating regressing#like both of them find it very easy to slip around each other#but it rarely happens at the same time#and etho shows up already regressed to bug gem a lot more often than the other way around

Eloise gently lifts him off the ground and settles him into her lap.
"Look, there's your little face," she says. There's a smile in her voice as she leans over him, and the fuzz in his head spreads, warm, comforting, "what a sight."
He tilts his head up to look, again, at his gravestone, but then Eloise gently strokes his feathers and he melts, suddenly engulfed entirely by the safety (and maybe even the hope) that Eloise brought when she arrived.
"It's the man you once were. Gone!" she's saying. He closes his eyes, soaking in the wonderful feeling of being pet. It's a feeling he's never cared for before- never a fan of getting his back rubbed or his hair tousled. This is the chicken brain, one hundred percent, and he never wants it to end.
"For another couple minutes, then it's back."
She's still smiling. Still petting him. All the stress of dying leaks out of him as she does, the memory of choking on lava fades into something that feels manageable.
"I didn't expect you to be so cuddly," Eloise says, gentle. "You're a sweet little guy."

ive been thinking about Zed as a livestock guardian dog breed and Ren as a herding dog breed but like, there’s been zero substantial thoughts. just vibes
