Event Logistics + Mod Applications
Hello people! I am getting back to working on this and I think the timeline will have to be pushed, as September is looming and I'm considering making this event a little bigger, if possible. My ideal, which is definitely unattainable this year but could be a future goal, would be to create an MCYT Bisexual Zine, wherein a bunch of different fanwork creators make different works all along the theme of bisexuality and we put it together into something really cool and special. However, I doubt that's going to happen this year, as it would take an enormous amount of planning and might be better suited for people with more big event experience. If anyone would be interested in planning a general MCYT Queer Zine, I would be very down to help out with something like that in the future, so if that sparks inspiration in anyone, please run with it and let me know.
For this event in this time frame, it's still likely going to be something like a gift exchange, a fest, or a flashbang. I have yet to decide, which is part of why I'd like to get some help on the mod side of things! If you are interested in helping plan this event, please fill out the form linked below and let me know how you'd like to help.

POSE UP, POSER!
In participation of MCYT Couture Zine hosted by @mcyt-couture-zine!
[progress images under cut]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Composition + Cleaned up version of the draft.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The design struggle. For snowchester, I scrapped the Inuit-inspired style and went for a silhouette that looks more mobile. Surprisingly, the minutesman & red banquet fit came to me quite easily. I really like the rogue jester vibe.
I still don't like the ghostboo ones (mourning dress/ this menswear) but since 75% of the fit is out of frame AND it's not supposed to be a finished product at the shoot (timeline) I just let it be.
Tumblr media
There was an attempt to incorporate elements from the other 4 sets. Showed iteration 3&4 (left to right) to a friend who knows punk and adjusted.
Tumblr media
The design struggle part 2: color coordination. Snowchester was relatively easy 'cause I color-picked from the skin and then hue/saturation shifted the palette.
L'mg was basically flag colors. Yellow hexagons for hive (community)/"bee"duo. The pockets were sewn upside-down (memory loss) and the red lining on the collar's topside alludes to, well, a collar. There was supposed to be an allium in the shirt pocket but a spot of purple there is kinda out of place.
Red banquet was also color-picked from the skin and then I added some grays. The outfit layers are like, shirt + vest + outer puffy sleeves coat + lace collar + ruff collar.
Tumblr media
Balance patch update. ╴No more day/night tubbo-tommy coding. ╴Tulip on red background with 3 stripes so it looks like a radioactive symbol. ╴Removed two-tone belt (later during detailing process added hexagon trims). ╴Shifted lower half to cool hues. ╴Added paint on right sleeve. Tessellating cat pattern from here. ╴Upside down Lmg flag color blocks.
Tumblr media
Lineart + Deciding how the Ranboos would overlap.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Flats + Detail. The lower Ranboo (left img.) has the original skin/hair colors, which I later darkened/desaturated so it matches the general brightness of the piece.
Tessellating cat pattern on the right sleeve from here. Lace brushes from the CSP Assets store saved my motivation.
If you zoom in, you'll find that the patches on the right leg have text from Ranboo's decoy memory book and panic room signs. The numbers reference Enderwalk lessons. This does not fit the timeline of when this photoshoot was taken but I thought it would be cool to include them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shadow + Lighting. It's my first time using Hard Light layers (instead of Multiply) for shadows, so there was a little bit of learning curve. The shadows ended up being much more "realistic"/ closer to the original color, which is neat. I also didn't notice how dark the entire piece is until I filled in the background.
Ngl the Lmg fit is a bit too eye-catching standing in the front while also being bright in values. However, I didn't want to overhaul the mannequins/ placement of the outfits 'cause 1) it was a pain to line (looking at the boneson the red banquet fit's) 2) they are (sort of) placed according to how Ranboo relates to those period of times. Snowchester (family) is within reach/ by his side; Red banquet (enderboo/ hidden alliances) is behind him/ out of sight; Lmg (histories and relationships he only hear of, not experienced) is off to the side, within sight but just out of reach unless he gets up.
I really don't know what I was doing with the hair render. Tried something new, liked how it looked, but it doesn't quite fit the lighting. My favourite part is the fingers and glove studs at the bottom...
Tumblr media
Black & White ver.
Thanks for reading :D

Note
Hi there! Sorry for asking so late, but is there a way to make the PDF spreads into seperate pages? I want to print it as a personal zine but my computer keeps thinking of the spreads (2-pages) as a 1-page which leads to the computer squishing 4 spreads (8-pages) onto a sheet of paper.
Sorry if this disturbs you!
currently the zine is not compatible for printing because i took advantage of the digital-only aspect to create visually interesting layouts that goes over the central/spine bleed unless there is overwhelming interest i will not be reformatting the zine for printing
but here is a link to a one page pdf of the zine
feel free to reach out if you need anything else! and please tag me if you post it online if you are binding it!

"King of Diamonds" ♦️
Tumblr media
Part 3/4 of my contribution to @mcyt-couture-zine! For the series, I was inspired by Doc's poker den and casino, and each piece is based off of a different card suit.
This piece was inspired by the diamond suit, and mainly the fact that Doc is the King of Diamonds in his custom poker deck, as well as general 1940's menswear.
As always, click below for full design breakdown and details!
Like on the spades piece, I had a very strong composition in mind for this piece from the very beginning, so I didn't want to design too much knowing it would all be covered up by the framing and kept most of the detail to the shoulders up.
Tumblr media
The biggest image I knew I wanted before even sketching the design was a playing card crown, similar to this one I found on Pinterest. I also knew I needed to play with the diamond shape motif without it feeling to jester-y, so limited by colors in the main outfit to largely red and black.
Tumblr media
The design itself was largely inspired by classic 1940's men's suiting, with padded shboulders, wide upturned lapels, and high waisted pleated pants. Because the view would be chest up I wanted that diamond paneling to be very visible in the lapel, as well as adding red piping along the seams such as at the shoulders to give a little extra color pop. The diamond applique on the collar of the shirt and the diamond-shaped tie fastener got a little bit lost in the final posing, which is unfortunate because I think they're cool.
The biggest thing I think I regret about this design is not pushing the bright blue Minecraft diamond angle more in the design and the composition. While he has diamond cuff buttons and a lapel pin, the pops of blue don't feel like enough to denote extreme wealth and 'royalty' when it comes to diamonds. I think I could've upped the amount of jewelry he had - added rings to the hand by his face, for example, or a diamond encrusted wristwatch that's so common in high end menswear. It was a bit of a missed opportunity, though I think the piece still came out quite cool in the end.

"High Roller" ♠️
Tumblr media
Part 3/4 of my contribution to @mcyt-couture-zine! For the series, I was inspired by Doc's poker den and casino, and each piece is based off of a different card suit.
This piece was inspired by the spades suit, 1940's outwear and men's coats, ermine fur, and Doc's own white lab coat.
See below for design notes and details!
This design was largely inspired by wanting to have a piece of Doc leaning over the roulette wheel with eerie, almost threatening under-lighting. The idea of using a big 1940's coat was perfect to add to his intimidating and powerful aura in this piece, and was the perfect opportunity to incorporate Doc's own white lab coat into the design, too!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When playing with the design I found these wonderful suit jackets with hanging heart charms, and it made me think of how the black spade shapes when hung from the point could be made to look like ermine fur, which was another point to symbolizing his wealth and power, as ermine was typically worn by royalty in medieval England and is still associated with wealth, luxury, and high standing to this day.
Tumblr media
Doc in this outfit is representative both of the House, the all-powerful force of the casino, and the high rollers it entices to spend and gamble their money away at the poker and roulette tables. He needed to read powerful and rich but not overly flashy, while also incorporating the spades motif as much as I could. The white coat was an obvious nod to his lab coat, with the spade charms we talked abotu as well as spades motif on the collar inset into the white fur and in buttons along the cuffs. His waistcoat is 1940's style and red pinstriped satin, with diamond-embedded spade buttons and silk cord trim. The silk tie/cravat is meant to look like a spade in the way it's shaped, and the collar's spade details were just too fun to not include.
I ended up adding the leather gloves you see him wearing in the illustration later, but I think it also matches nicely with the idea of him as a detached observer of the game, urging you to play on one more round without actually getting his hands dirty or gambling himself.
Also, a moment of silence for Doc's unseen crocodile skin dress shoes with the spade detail on the toe. RIP king, maybe I'll draw you one day.

Even Roses Bloom on the Craggiest of Cliffs: A Dive Into the Fashion of 2b2t
2b2t, a place known for its rough and gritty landscape and even deadlier denizens, has cultivated a different fashion scene than any I'd seen before. Joined by our guide Fit, travel with me to take a look at what 2b2t has in store.
https://archiveofourown.org/works/66528709
This is the piece I wrote for @mcyt-couture-zine! It's about the fashion that one might find on 2b2t.
This was such a cool project, and I'm glad to be a part of it! Check out the rest of the zine because every single piece made for this zine is jaw-droppingly beautiful.
If you're curious about my inspiration for the fic, I wrote a bit about it under the cut.
I wanted to write about 2b2t because I think that it's such a cornerstone of Minecraft servers that there would have to be some interesting fashion trends there. I picked FitMC to be the guide because I'm more familiar with his videos and character.
The first video of his I used was this video that explains how eye armor trim became the rarest item in 2b2t and that wearing an armor piece or set with the eye armor design is seen as extremely prestigious. Coupled with the fact that 2b2t would have an entire system dedicated to different armor aesthetics in materials, decorations, and embellishments, and I set up a little fictional interview with someone who wore a set.
The second video I wrote about was this one that's about how someone gathered a bunch of 2b2t youtubers together to recreate a real-life cult/secret society. They had robes, masks, and a camp in the middle of nowhere. However, the camp's coordinates were leaked and soon the whole camp was griefed. The oddest thing, though, was that no one showed up from the coordinates. The griefing was done entirely by the person who made the secret club. I took this and spun it to put even more emphasis on how 2b2t would value armor and see armor as safety and wearing anything else would be seen as dangerous or sketchy.
The third source I used wasn't a youtube video, but a book, Secrecy: Silence, Power, and Religion by Hugh B. Urban. It's a book that I read during my undergrad that talks about how groups of people, namely religious groups, would communicate to each other who was part of the "in" group and who was part of the "out" group using clothing, accessories, language, and other methods of expression without directly stating it. Many groups did this for a lot of different reasons, for safety, to escape the law, to be racist, but I think in a place like 2b2t, there would be a system in place where people would be able to communicate their allyship without being as open about it as like wearing a banner or how their armor was crafted. This is why I put the thing with the rings in there, but I don't think I necessarily conveyed the whole idea. But that's okay, because the fictional author/interviewer who's writing the interview just didn't pick up on the significance of what the rings meant. Anyways, I would highly recommend checking out the book if you're interested; it's a very good read!
Thank you for reading! And I cannot express this enough, check out the rest of the zine, too!!! <3

"River and Turn" ♣️
Tumblr media
Part 2/4 of my contribution to @mcyt-couture-zine! For the series, I was inspired by Doc's poker den and casino, and each piece is based off of a different card suit.
This piece was inspired by the club suit and poker dealers at casinos, as well as a slight nod to punk elements.
See below for design notes and details!
I knew I wanted one of the pieces to have a skirt as part of the design, and this one was the best for it as it had a full-body silhouette to work with as opposed to the compositions I wanted for the other pieces. That being said, I actually had a hard time with the design for this one, and ended up combining two of my original concepts into one for the final piece:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I knew I wanted this look to be more informal-looking, or rather less 'powerful' than the others, since his role wasn't of a high roller or a gambling boss but as the face of The House in a service role - a dress shirt with sleeves rolled up and simple double-breasted vest is perfect for that look. I played with asymmetrical panels in the skirt, plaid patterns, spiked shoes, and chunky chain jewelry as a way to add back some editorial edge, and tried to combine elements of the dressy formal skirt look with elements like the loose suspender tails of the second to have the best elements of both. The clubs design came in mainly in decorative elements - the fasteners on the suspenders, the charm at the end of the pocket chain, and the fringed applique along the edge of the skirt - but I did try to nod to it in places like the shape of the necktie and the pattern of the sheer socks as well.
I actually think that of all of the pieces, this one ended up the weakest, maybe not entirely in design but certainly in my posing and rendering. Ah, well - there's always a weak link of the group, no matter what project I work on! We forge ahead either way.
