2018 First Talk
Want to talk?
What do you want me to say?
I don’t know, anything is fine. Talking is kind of what were good at right?
Were good at talking people up or down, left and right. We are not good at talking with people.
What does that mean?
It means that when we want to get a point across, or making people see our side of things, or simply want to prove that we are right, we can easily do so with a silver bladed tongue.
God, that sounds awful.
Ya well some people think it’s great when it isn’t against them and instead backs them up.
What if we just talk to people honestly.
We’re too honest to do that.
Isn’t that a good thing?
It should be. Sadly we don’t live in that sort of good world.
A world where everyone tells the truth? I’m pretty sure there's a movie like that, and if I remember right that world was an awful place.
Heh. “The invention of lying”. Ya, that world was pretty fucked up, but those people weren’t just telling the truth all the time, they were saying every thought to enter there head.
Does that mean with holding information is lying?
No. False information is lying. Telling the truth, or a partial truth, or not correcting someone and just keeping the truth silent, those are all honest still. At least for us.
Why would it be any different for anyone else? What's to stop someone from saying that what we do is lie?
Think about it for a minute. If no one could ever lie, and everyone had to work with the truth when talking to one another. Think about how clever the human race would be. Think and about how smart the human race would be.
We would be Wise, not Smart.
What's the difference?
Smart means someone has a lot of knowledge, and knowledge is just facts recorded as they are and on their own. Wisdom is the ability to manipulate facts and information to make decisions and perform tasks.
Smart doesn't mean someone who has a lot of knowledge.
Oh come on. We call the guy who can name every element on the periodic table off the top of his head smart. But what do you call the guy who figured out how to convince his friends to do his work for him?
An ass
Not the point
You would call him smart too. Smart can mean being wise or being knowledgeable.
Hmm, I guess.
Anyway, getting back to what I was saying originally, we’re too honest to talk to be straightforward.
I still don’t get why that's a bad thing.
Because people aren't as honest as we when talking to someone straightforward. You wear your emotions on your sleeve and suddenly everyone around you thinks your crazy. Hell we live in a world where it’s considered brave to step up and be honest about your emotions for someone.
But, that is brave.
Only because we have such a taboo against being actually honest about stuff. Some of the most honest things in the world are satiric in nature. But wouldn’t it be great if for once it wasn’t. Like, if for once when someone likes you, they could just say “I like you”. Or if someone you like turns you down, they say “I’m sorry I’m just not interested in you in that way.” but we can’t do that. Instead we have to use this fucking code language that apparently everyone but us got a how to manual on. EXCUSE ME UNIVERSE, I SEEMED TO HAVE MISSED THE WHOLE CLASS ON FLIRTING AND HIDDEN MESSAGES IN CONVERSATION, CAN YOU GIVE ME RUN DOWN, OR LIKE A HOW TO. MAYBE A YOUTUBE VIDEO.... For god's sakes.
Did that feel good to get that off your chest?
Ya
What’s gotten into you?
I don’t know
Yes you do
I don’t
Do
Don’t
DO!
DON’T!
YOU FUCKING DO!
I’M TIRED OF BEING ALONE.
...
I’M TIRED OF FEELING LIKE I HAVE SOMETHING TO GIVE SOMEONE AND NOT HAVING ANYONE TO GIVE IT TO. I’M TIRED OF FEELING LIKE THERE SOMETHING I DESPERATELY NEED AND NO ONE AROUND ME BEING WILLING TO GIVE IT TO ME. I’M A DYING MAN HERE. DYING BECAUSE NO ONE WILL GIVE ME THE MEDICATION I NEED.
...
I’m just tired of feeling cold
... when you were saying something to give, you meant...
Oh for fucks... LOVE. I have love, the likes of which you can scarcely imagine, and rage the likes of which you could never measure. If you do not let me release one, I will indulge the other.
