People on the Battletech forum are arguing about Clan eugenics programs.

Yeah dawg, because the rest of their ideology is fucking cooked.

If you accept my assertions that the engine in your car actually has gnomes in it that make your car work, and that they run on itunes vouchers, then giving me a bunch of itunes vouchers to "install in your engine" would make sense too.

I don't know why I'm complaining about this on tumblr but I guess I am just constantly surprised by how completely lacking in critical thinking skills people are.

Do you know what happens when an obsessive NHP cascades?

An obsessive NHP cascade doesn't look like unshackling. Your squadmates are more than grateful, fragile targets that they are. IFF systems are one of the first things to go in a cascade, after all. No, this particular NHP speaks to you. It knows how to keep the cockpit shut. It knows how to keep you here for a long, long time. It could dissuade any engineer from getting close enough with a single round bigger than their body. It loves you. It loves you, it loves you, it loves you. It is your metal angel, your mechself. It can keep you safe in its steel clutches. It is the best sword and shield that you could ask for and all it wants in return is you.

Ok dudes so I'm sure someone's asked about this, but essentially I'm starting my first Lancer character soon (it's Wallflower, no spoilers plz!), and he's essentially a musical historian/archeologist. He literally went to Union college for pre-Fall music history, and specializes in Metal. A great deal of his aesthetic and the name of his mech are inspired by Brutal Legend, which through the annals of thousands and thousands of years of lost history, he and his fellow scholars believe is a mythological saga/canon about the birth of Cradle and the "sacred art" of Metal.

However, even though his specialty and primary taste is in this archeological music, he is also a well-connected video essayist and streamer (the impetus for him becoming a pilot but that's unimportant atm), and thus knows just a little bit about current music scenes all across human space, and a bunch about music from "recent" history.

So I ask, you, dear Internet, give me your tastiest, crunchiest headcanons about music in the time of Lancer and further back. How do the Ungratefuls let their cry of freedom be heard? What do demonic record companies churn out as corporate slop? What does a Karrakin noble listen to vs a common peasant? What did the first NHP Rock Star sound like? Any and all of it. I WILL use it for this character.
