when i think about it i can like. UNDERSTAND why some people are stuck in the "frisk and chara act as blank self-inserts for the player so their genders are up to interpretation" boat, like while i would argue that that's still Not True and that they are in fact their own characters and should be treated as such, their characterization is less pronounced, and undertale's whole deal is that it falsely sets itself up as that kind of narrative and then challenges your attachment to it. it's a smokescreen yknow. so i'm more inclined to forgive someone for interpreting them like that
but KRIS? KRIS DELTARUNE???? KRIS "THE CAGE" DREEMURR, whose CENTRAL THEME is that they're their own person with their own personality and thoughts and feelings and past and relationships and trauma, who is perceived very differently in the eyes of everyone who knows them - especially when it comes to new acquaintances vs those who have known them their whole life, and was stripped of their identity and agency by the player who they're actively trying to sabotage???????? from the game all about defying the world's "rules" and being true to yourself??????????????????
THAT'S what you call a blank slate? THAT'S supposed to be up to interpretation? ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND

disturbing amount of people out there who think doing misogyny to trans women is a sign of respecting them as women and thus good instead of the obvious act of oppression it is

Photo

Long before the introduction of color film, a Russian chemist and photographer named Sergey Prokudin-Gorsky used an innovative technique. He took three individual black and white photos, each through a colored filter (red, green, and blue), to create fully colored, high-quality pictures. The photo of this woman, taken by him, is around 107 years old!

I'm going to be real, you're not entitled to ANY piece of private information about ANYONE online, including what forms of oppression they do or do not experience. You're only so desperate to know because your whole ability to argue with strangers depends on being able to call them bigots.
right — and people who are unwilling to discuss which forms of oppression they do or do not experience are not entitled to be a part of conversations about those forms of oppression.
your problem is that you think trans women are going round demanding this information from random people , rather than telling people, sorry, you don’t get a stake in this conversation about transmisogyny if you won’t tell me your relationship to it as a structure.
i’m not desperate to know anything — i follow plenty of blogs who have never and will never post about whether they’re TME or TMA — but those blogs also aren’t making sweeping statements about the experiences of trans women or how we need to shut the fuck up about our oppression.
it isn’t bigotry for somebody to say, “sorry quick question but are you white?” when somebody bursts into a nuanced conversation about race and starts talking about how the REAL racists are the people who believe in racism. it likewise isn’t bigotry for somebody to say, “sorry quick question but are you TMA?” when somebody is posting sexist, transmisogynyistic nonsense about the structure & effects of institutional transmisogyny.

if you want to actually materially address child abuse, the single most important thing you can do to start is give children the legally enforceable right to leave any situation they no longer want to be in.
church, extracurriculars, summer camps, school classes, their biological family's houses. notably, these are the places that child abuse is enabled by the child's inability to just fucking leave if they need to. they can't walk out of church if their youth pastor touches them inappropriately; they'll get punished for leaving. if they walk out of their house because their dad hits them, the cops pick them up and give them right back to their dad.
children need the legal autonomy to leave abusive situations in order to even begin to usefully materially address child abuse.
original post by qweerhet because it's unrebloggable but very important

Console game developers can get in trouble with the console vendors for failing to patch known show-stopping bugs, which is a problem for me because I think you shouldn't be required to fix bugs that are objectively funny. The game crashes if you manage to die under very specific, improbable circumstances? That's built-in commentary.
