Well, yes! Because as we’ve been saying, they do not actually like Jungkook and never have. I was telling a friend yesterday about how his fanbase is made out of people who don’t like him but rather, his achievements or records or his popularity in kpoptwt. This is precisely why despite the noise, they don’t measure up just yet when it comes to capable solo fandoms — being motivated by an artist’s fame and not love for them or their artistry is not sustainable.

There’s been plenty of instances of Jungkook saying something or doing something that comes across as appreciative or inclusive of Jimin in some sort of way, and they’ve always reacted by doubling down on harassing him. They can’t take their anger out on the artist they actually “stan” (publicly), so they’d rather take it out on Jimin, even when he doesn’t do anything.

There’s also something to say here about a larger conversation on fans vs. their perceived artist. If your perception of an artist is overwhelmed with more speculation and less reality, you will end up hating them eventually when they continue to not conform to it. For example, when people are so sure of what kind of artist a member wants to be, what he wants out of his career, how he feels about his members, what kind of relationship he has with them, what he struggles with, different aspects of his identity, etc. These things need some objective facts that aren’t colored by conspiracy thinking or personal bias. Often times, “extreme” fans like akgaes or shippers, who subscribe to a very different version of events than what is presented to them, fall victim to this prioritization of speculated basis over reality, and they end up hating their faves.

Sucks for them. I like to be normal and not think my personal feelings are projections of the truth regarding literal strangers and the 99% of their lives they spend away from a camera.

This fandom + the members have been jointly pushing anti Jimin propaganda since the inception of this group.

The first example was the absolute lie that J-hope is a better dancer. Somebody who can do only one form of dance will never touch someone as versatile and skilled as Jimin.

The next lie was that Jimin is ugly or the ugliest in the group. Idk how many PJMs are here from the early days but the members genuinely used to push that Jimin was the least good looking and constantly made jokes about it. They wanted “7th in looks” to be his role so badly but the Korean fandom didn’t even entertain it and the actual ugly members started getting dragged so they had to drop it fast

Next is the lie that things don’t come naturally to Jimin and that he has to train really hard for everything in contrast to Jungkook who is naturally talented. The biggest lie ever. How can this be true when Jimin is the one who debuted with no training and Jungkook is the one who got the most training in the group. They even gave Jungkook 1:1 dancing courses abroad when they saw he was lacking. How is someone who’s coddled this badly naturally talented and the one who had to sing the hardest notes with zero vocal lessons the one who needs to train to achieve success? It’s not adding up. Yes Jimin is a hard worker but he’s also naturally gifted. That’s why he can surpass others in various areas with ease

I also want to add how the company has used his vulnerability against him also in the official content like that game In the Seom, documentaries, shows, BT21, etc, to try to portray him as someone weak and dependent on others. I'm not saying he hasn't felt defeated at times, but they took these things that everybody feels and made it his whole personality. And the fandom just runs with it, despite him showing several times his ambition, resilience and strength. And when we try to bring up how unfair the situation has been with him since the beginning, they try to shut us down. Gaslighting to the max.
