I do love headcanons of Only Child Ferdinand.

HOWEVER

I also love giving him an older sister and a younger brother. I also love giving him as many illegitimate siblings as possible.

Both would have a crest because God Forbid the Aegir Household has a child without a crest.

Ferdinand's sister is six years older than Ferdinand and his brother is three years younger than him. I headcanon his little brother's birth is what made their mother incredibly sick.

By that point, Ferdinand's older sister is helping raise Ferdinand alongside nursemaids, tutors, and their father because their mother can't anymore.

Ferdinand's sister is very motherly but she is also a lot like Ludwig. She's short-tempered, stubborn, highly intelligent and good at manipulating people. She gets into hundreds of arguments with Ludwig.

Ferdinand's younger brother is largely ignored and, because of this, he is significantly quieter than both of his older siblings. He's withdrawn and a bit distant from his family. He is closest to his older sister and barely speaks to Ferdinand at all. He is the spare, and Ferdinand is coming along nicely. Ferdinand is also generally isolated from him.

Ludwig simultaneously manages to heavily favourite Ferdinand whilst also heavily criticising him, which causes some amount of resentment towards Ferdinand from his siblings despite none of it being his fault.

Ludwig spends the most amount of time with Ferdinand in favour of trying to make Ferdinand his perfect heir. He spends a lot of time trying to make his daughter the perfect wife, but she is the Eldest Daughter™️ and fights him on everything. He barely spends any time with his youngest son, only really teaching him the bare necessities of being prime minister in case anything happens to Ferdinand.

Depending on what has upset Ferdinand, he tends to go to his older sister for comfort, especially when he is little.

Ferdinands older sister is married off when she is eighteen and Ferdinand is twelve and he misses her so much. She doesn't write to him very much and they barely see each other. She's busy with her husband and children and also she hates her father so much and she knows that any letters she sends to Ferdinand will almost certainly be read by Ludwig one way or another.

Ferdinand and his younger brother don't start getting along until after the war and even then, their relationship is always a little rocky. Ferdinand tries too hard and doesn't know when to back off. There is so much built up resentment from his younger brother that his younger brother doesn't know how to cope with.

These three also have like fifteen illegitimate siblings because Ludwig cannot stop being the worst for five seconds.

I think they've met a couple, know of a few others but there are others they aren't aware of.

Oh and btw all of this comes from Ferdinand's introductory line and his line if you fail at recruiting him.

both of these lines are fascinating to me and expose so much of Ferdinand's family but that's an in depth conversation for another time

I know that HRT gives you secondary sex characteristics in one direction or another, but we HAVE to stop telling nonbinary people that they “can’t pick and choose.” Of course, you can’t tell your testosterone that you’d rather not grow chest hair, but there are things you can do!

You could go on T so your voice drops and start shaving so you don’t grow a beard. You could start HRT and then stop once you get the permanent changes you like. You can pursue sterilization instead of bottom surgery. You can get top surgery without being on T. You can go on E and work out a bunch to bulk out your muscles. You can pursue laser hair removal or electrolysis to remove unwanted hair, with or without HRT. You could even just start hormones to see if you like it and then stop if it isn’t to your taste.

Obviously, you can’t order secondary sex characteristics a la carte, but we have to stop being so awful to nonbinary people. We should discuss the options we have, not shut down the conversation with “that’s what you get.”

On the heels of my poll that had tumblr showing as 76% White, I’d like to tell y’all about the BIPOC Attention Tax.

The BIPOC Attention Tax fucks up all BIPOC, but it fucks up trans BIPOC in particular due to being multiply marginalized. It’s the penalty you pay in engagement for being non-white on social media, taken in less shares/visibility.

While the BIPOC Attention Tax affects most BIPOC, it affects SWers, content creators, and those who rely on mutual aid the most. You have to share our stuff more than you think. You have to reply to us more than you think. It’s in how we watch smaller white accounts double our size in no time at all but if our accounts show any sign of being BIPOC we lag behind.

We’re societally conditioned to pay more attention to the thin, white, conventionally attractive folks and amplify them. While this ain’t their fault, it does mean *you* need to put active effort into subverting that urge and be conscious of who/how you’re interacting with.

Don’t just like posts from BIPOC folks, stop worrying about your “profile aesthetic”, sharing a post literally takes 3 seconds and especially in the case of SW and MA can literally keep folks housed, fed, alive. Our content, our art, our lives and survival fucking matter.

White trans folks have more options to leverage their whiteness to escape the states criminalizing transition, medical care, existing in public while trans. Not only do TBIPOC suffer the effects of poverty more/worse, but the BIPOC Attention Tax makes crowdfunding/mutual aid much harder as well.

Even in terms of just bullshit discourse, TBIPOC will often get higher rates of harassment at lower follower counts than their white counterparts, without the “benefits” of easier/more successful SW or MA that come at the higher follower counts, increasing the toll for staying.

Many of the white folks I see on social media (including tumblr), especially white trans folks, will have one or two token BIPOC moots they keep around because they’re hot or funny, and otherwise have no BIPOCs in their groups, networks, etc.

Ask yourself, how many BIPOC folks would call YOU their friend?

I know shit is hard right now and we wanna escape and pretend things ain’t happening but the longer we do that, the more of us die or disappear without anyone knowing or noticing. But we can at least be more intentional in who we engage with and support, even if it’s just sharing/boosting.

On Three Houses:

We all must reconcile with the idea that the writing in some cases is flawed. Not bad, not terrible, just flawed. They developed a game with four possible endings so there are bound to be plot holes, inconsistencies, and other issues. It’s a video game not a novel, not a movie. If we all just accept this and move on, it makes our beloved anime war crimes game so much more enjoyable.

A ton of potential ships

Enjoyable gameplay

An immersive setting with much lore and worldbuilding behind it

The capacity to make choices throughout the game (most of which affect the gameplay more than the plot)*

Control over the game’s difficulty levels and cast of characters (easy, hard, or maddening, casual or classic, recruitment or none)

The motivation to play through it multiple times so that you get the full story and unlock all the supports

Tldr: it’s a great game in spite of the flaws in its writing.

For those new to the game: it’s only Edelgard’s route that lets you make a mid-game choice that impacts the story (No spoilers). With the other two house leaders, the plot is going to revolve around them. It’s worth it to play through all four routes so that you get the full picture of what was really happening all along.

* When it comes to making choices that impact the plot, Triangle Strategy is actually a much more elaborate game. Sadly, it doesn’t have supports between characters or cut scenes quite like FE3H does. It does have banter between some of the characters but it doesn’t translate into stat buffs on the map like FE3H does. But Triangle Strategy does have something FE3H doesn’t: a golden route! I hope that the next Fire Emblem game actually takes this idea and runs with it.

this is my take on a non-binary byleth!!!! frankly both byleth designs have elements that frustrate me (and why do we even need two of them?) so i’ve mashed them together into My Ideal Byleth. they stand at 5’6 and they’re pansexual. unless otherwise specified, it can be assumed that every byleth i write or draw is this byleth. surprise!!!! every byleth ship is queer now in the faerghusfucker cinematic universe.
