Ok you know what. I was wrong about this show.

Is it a dumpster fire for not following the source material? Yes

Is it flat out cringy with all the forced relationships? Also yes

Am i completely upset that they had the audacity to mention Flora after completely erasing her character? HELL YES

Out of all of the Specialists did they choose only 2 (Sky and Riven)? Yes

Did they merge Red Fountain and Alfea into one school?😑 yes

Did I like it? To an extent. After the 2nd episode I flat out stopped thinking about Fate as a reboot of winx altogether.

Does the show have potential to be ‘almost’ as good as the OG? Maybe. The story telling was ok and kept you on your toes bc it’s a new plot line. Idk about Techna but there is a chance of Flora showing up in S2 bc we know she exists in this universe.

I am also in the process of making a ‘take a shot when...’ list for Fate. Idk when I’ll post it.

I know this may piss people off

We knew from the get go that Fate was gonna take a different approach from the Winx Club cartoon. When Netflix announced the live action reboot that it would not be the same as the cartoon, and that they wanted to appeal to the older, OG fans. Since the Nickelodeon dubbed is on the service (in the US at least) I don’t see a problem with this. I am actually really excited about it, aside from the blatant disregard for POC characters and even removing one of the main girls ( Layla, Musa, Flora, and Techna) there still might be a chance for the cast to change or not we don’t know.

I have seen people on the Winx tag saying how Fate ruined the OG. It didn’t, it’s just not possible for the cartoon to translate 100% to live action. Yes the colors are drab and not sparkly, oh well. All we’ve seen is their regular human clothes, their transformations may resemble the cartoon WE DONT KNOW!! Who knows maybe the reason the colors are bad is bc we’re looking from the outside in, But once we see the other characters through a POV it’ll change.

The Magic change: this is one thing I will completely defend. More so Bloom’s Magic: it looks like actual fire!!! Which is what it’s supposed to be with her being the Fairy of the Dragon Flame and all that. I don’t have an opinion on the others as of this post bc idk how their CGI is for magic.

Now onto the MAJOR PROBLEM with Fate. We all know where I’m going with this. THE BLATANT DISREGARD OF POC CHARACTERS AND TECHNA!!!!! Musa, Layla, and Flora are all persons of color and should not have been changed!!! Netflix even changed Flora’s name to Terra!! WHY IDK. From what I could tell of the trailer Layla was the only POC that Netflix kept and whitewashed Musa and Flora. WOW and I believe S8 had already whitewashed These characters so there is no reason for Fate to do the same. It is inexcusable and Netflix along with the casting agency should be held accountable for doing this. With Techa; I honestly don’t know why they decided to cut her character, she is one of the main girls and her powers have helped the Winx more times than I can count. Unless she showed up later on in the Fate series(like Layla in the OG) I can’t think of reason as to why they did this.

Basically don’t hate in Fate until it’s released, it couldn’t be the exact same as the cartoon, and POCs do have a right to be angry with the decisions made to Layla, Flora, Musa and by extent Techna( I am not sure if she is counted as a POC or not please don’t hesitate to let me know).

Also to anyone in the POC community please let me know if any of the information here is wrong and I will fix it.💜💜
