Quiet Nights

Shipping: Ponyboy x reader Warnings: Non

I was quiet, the only sound heard was the crickets singing their songs to the night sky. I sighed as I watched a cloud cover the moon, I loved star gazing. Ever since I was a kid I loved it. I felt my eyes begin to feel heavy and I felt sleepier and sleepier. Just then, laughter erupted the air. I quickly sit up, I walk to the side of my house and poke my head to the side. There were 7 boys, all laughing and running around the street. I frowned, they led me away from my stargazing and I know people on my street wouldn’t be happy with some boys howling at night.

“Excuse me, but some of us are either sleeping or trying to get some peace and quiet here.” I said loudly. All their heads shot in my direction. “Why should we stop, your not the boss of us!” One said loudly before all the boys began howling. I groaned under my breath and went back into my backyard. I lied down and looked at the sky, but I couldn’t concentrate on the stars with all the ruckus behind me. I finally had enough and walked inside. My parents weren’t gonna be home for about a week so I think it would be fine if I did this.

I walk across my living room and to my front door. I open the door wide and poked my head out. “HEY! Can ya’ll just shut the hell up?” I said loudly, making them stop again. “Yeah? And who’s gonna makes us?” Yelled one back. I felt like punching in of them but I couldn’t do that. I shut the door and went up to my room. I watched from my window as they jumped in each other and talked loudly. Then I saw one look up into my window. He just smiled sweetly and turned back around. He didn’t seem like the guy to hang out with that group. He seemed….sweeter.

I later changed into some pajamas which basically was sweat pants and an over sized t-shirt. I had my hair up and I was reading a book. I later heard a knock at the door, I stood up and walked downstairs and to the door. I opened it and was surprised to see one of the boys from earlier. I think it was the boy who smiled at me. “H-hey, sorry to bother you….but my friend kinda got hurt and….” I sighed and walked to my kitchen grabbing the first aid kit from under the sink. The boy took me to his friend. His friend was wearing a Mickey Mouse shirt and had a pretty bad scrapped arm. I kneeled down and examined his arm. I didn’t have a flashlight and I could barely see.

“Follow me.” I said. I hesitated before starting to walk to my house, all the boys followed. They were being loud and obnoxious. I shut the door as the last one walked in and I sat the injured boy down on my couch. “Ok, lets see.” His scrape didn’t look as bad in the light as it did in the dark. There were little pieces of dirt in it. I open the kit and grabbed a cotton ball and hydrogen peroxide. I began to put some hydrogen peroxide on it and he flinched for a second. “Try not to move.” I said as I cleaned out the scrape. Then I bandage it up, “If it gets infected, get a doctor as soon as possible.” I said was I was walking the noisy boys out of the house.

“Hey sweetheart, got a beer in there?” A tall boy with blonde hair called out. “No, so get lost.” I said. One turned around, it was the same boy who knocked on my door. “Thanks for…you know…helping my friend.” He said with a smile. I smiled too, “You go to the high school here, right?” I asked. He nodded. “Your on the track team. I see you running around the track after school sometimes.” I said. “Yeah, I’m Ponyboy.” He said holding out a hand. I gladly took it, “I’m Y/n.” I said smiling at him, he smiled back. “Well, I guess I’ll see you around!” He said before turning around to catch up with his friends.

I watched as they walked away chattering and having a good time. I smiled and closed my door for the night. Maybe I should be glad that they made noise that night, I was able to make a new friend.
