Introducing Megalithic Refractions...
Imagine a Megalithic Portal in a parallel astral dimension. Three epic boulders stand 20-ft tall forming an archway. The shape is recognisable as the ancient, ceremonial form of Stonehenge. Yet a mirrored exterior transforms this bronze-age icon into a futuristic entity reflecting its en- vironment.
Spectators engage immediately, seeing their own reflection and sur- roundings refracted in the organic rock shapes, connecting them to our ancestors who built Stonehenge eons ago. Three more climbable 5-ft rocks are scattered nearby to create social interaction and contempla- tion areas.
The fusion of a futuristic appearance and an ancient form eludes to a timeless space. The installation aims to elevate mood, incite awe and provide a sense of escapism. It provides a perfect setting to gather, find shade, meditate and reflect, and hold performances and happenings.

Installation
Day 1 – Team arrive onsite.
Site location and position 18T Curtain side trailer for unload. Set up camp.
Day 2 – Assembly of Megalithic Refractions.
(7m boom extension tele-handler with cage required for 4 to 6 hours.)
1. Prepare ground but digging small indents into the ground and removing any obstructions.
2. Posts, lintel and bluestones are unloaded with tele from curtain sider. Protective wrapping stays on.
3.Tele-handler lifts each post into position from reinforced hanging point at top of each boulder. Man power on the ground manoeuvres them into right position.
4. 3m poles are banged into ground from inside of each post using post driver.
5. Ballast weights are placed into base. Raised floor is locked into position in each post concealing the posts and ballast.
6.The lintel is positioned into the grooves on the top of each post. Straps fasten it in position from inside each post and the internal space is sealed from weather. Universe projectors and small speaker system fitted into ceiling cavity in each post. Hooked up to car battery and power converter. Switch- es enabled on door mechanisms.
7.The bluestones are positioned. All stones are unwrapped.
8.Testing.

Process
1.Develop a 3D model of the largest Trilithon stone, the heart of stone henge and 3 smaller bluestones which were known as the healing stones.
2.A Trilithon stone is made of 3 main parts. Two large vertical stones (posts) supporting a third horizontal stone (lintel). These would be sculpted from polystyrene blocks (purchased in large blocks 2m(h) x 1.25(w) x 1m(d) we would need 4 for each post and 2 for the lintel).
3.Low heat resin and fibre glass applied to the models to create hollow shells. Concealed doors hidden into contours of the 2 posts and cut out of the outer shells.
4.All components encapsulated in resin before paint undercoat is applied.
5.Lightweight steel frame built within the posts for reinforcement.
6.Chrome plating with mirror finish applied to exterior.
7.Interior walls smoothed over and painted high gloss black.
8.The 2 posts would be self ballasting. A raised floor on the inside would conceal the weighted base and specially positioned holes would allow the posts to be pegged into the ground from within. The lintel would look identical to the posts but would be incredibly light- weight. Interlocking groves would secure it to the posts and concealed fas- tenings would lock it in place from within.
9.The inside of both posts would be large enough for 2 or 3 peo- ple to stand. Once inside with the door closed it would be cut out all outer light to make the interior complete black out. The closing of the door mechanism would power up a universe star pro- jector concealed above, which would immerse the interior in an endless galaxy of stars. A small speaker would also power up playing the sound of waves.
10.The occupants are completely cut off from the outside world, lost in their thoughts and a sea of stars.
