Although barangay 148 is ready for action, the barangay officials are lacking in a sense that the younger generation is not much active when it comes to these types of things. Even I’m not all aware of what was happening until I went to the barangay and asked about the certain issue. This must be taken care of and there should be more projects related to the youth and what I saw in the barangay emergency volunteers is that most of them are elderly people and the ones you don’t expect to be a volunteer for emergency situations. This was the only issue that I saw when talking to Kagawad and while walking around the community. We did not get to reach the riverside because he was very alarmed with that has been happening around that area and in relation to the white van issue, he insisted not to go any further than where we have reached.

With everything that I have learned through the interview and community walk, it is very clear that Barangay 148 is ready for action anytime. Being aware of what your barangay is capable of providing safety and essentials is very important to know. Know who to approach for help and where to go in times of calamities. Be ready and be alert.

As I have said in the last blog post, the barangay is very ready for almost any calamity because we have two fire volunteers on standby and an ambulance service also on standby. The barangay haven't completed the barangay plan and safety plan but they have had seminars in the barangay a few times aready. The head for the disaster risk reduction is Mr. Brian Flores but he was not available at the time because he was at a seminar. Furthermore, all of the members in the barangay even volunteers are very alert and ready to serve the community.

Vulnerability, Elements and People at Risk Assessment
On the same day, we discussed about the barangay's  Vulnerability, Elements and People at Risk when a calamity is ought to be present. The following questions were asked:
Barangay 148 is 1.75 square kilometers which is a big landmass. The most vulnerable to calamities is the area near the riverside because if the water rises, there would be major flooding in the area but with the project headed by Kagawad Jim, he has risen the river bank wall and the flooding was less occurring. The effect would be a major thing to the people in the barangay because it would mean that they would be relocating to a safer space and leaving their household would be something that would be a sacrifice. If evacuating would be the answer, the barangay hall and the covered court would be the safest place to be in ties of calamities. On the other hand, the most dangerous place to be is to be near the riverbank and the Honorio Lopez street because of the trailer trucks. The barangay is ready for anything and with the help of Manila Metro Fire volunteers and Ambucare Tondo, we are ready for anything.

Hazard Identification
On December 6th, I visited my local barangay to be informed about the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction Protocols that they have and asked some questions which were:
Mr. Brian Flores is the head of the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction but he was not available during the time I went to the hall so I got to talk to Kagawad Jim Dollesin who is the head for Pagawaing Bayan.
We had a chat on identifying where there are possible hazards in Barangay 148 and in line with the first question, there haven't been any major calamities that struck the barangay. Only minor hazards such as some falling debris from construction sites and some open manholes which are already been called out for. The barangay is also alert when it comes to information about incoming typhoons and water crisis. When the barangay ahs received information, they announce it through the speakers which are distributed in the barangay. It has clear audio and it is very effective. Since there aren't any major calamities that happened in the area, the barangay is still very alert and active when it comes to our safety.
