Frightening news from Sudan. The Rapid Support Forces is continuing its genocidal campaign in the Darfur region. They seem to be gearing up for an assault on El Fasher, and currently have the city under siege. This is the largest city in Darfur, and more than 500,000 displaced people from around Sudan are currently taking refuge there. If the RSF is able to carry out an offensive, it would bring starvation, killings, and rape on a massive scale. Human rights activists in Sudan are calling on the international community to urgently intervene.

Since my birthday post died down I am posting this again, as these two women still need to get their families out of Gaza:

Rawda and Enas are single mothers with children who are stranded, unable to cross the border, without medical supplies, food, and proper shelter.

These fundraisers are being organized by Maha Saymeh and Dina Zaazaa, Canadian family members of Rawda and Enas, who are currently working to get them out of Gaza. Both were found under the Gaza Evacuation Fund Relief Fund page, which was verified by the Ottawa4Palestine team.

Dina Zaazaa is an elementary school teacher in Ontario (x).

CONTEXT: the gaza freedom flotilla coalition aims to bring emergency aid (food, medical supplies, etc) to a starving and besieged gaza. activists and journalists from all over the world (including diaspora palestinians like dylan) will be participating, and they know the risk — in 2010 turkish activists attempting a similar mission had their flagship raided by israeli forces, who murdered 10 activists aboard (9 died on site and another died later from critical injuries).

Meet Ezzideen and his family, who are caught in the midst of crisis in Gaza. Ezzideen, a newly graduated doctor, along with his sister Abeer, a talented translator who lost her job due to the conflict, and Hassan, a responsible accountant at risk of losing a crucial international work opportunity, are all urgently needing to evacuate. Their father, a retired employee from the Ministry of Information, and their supportive mother have nurtured this family through various challenges, now facing their most dire situation yet.
