Roger Sonic legit sounds like he just wants to bang your mom snd chug a beer.

I have no idea how Sega thought that voice is fitting for a 3 foot tall, youthful, energetic hedgehog. (Then again, Sega is well known for being incredibly fucking stupid.)

My guess is cheap contract, and the fact Roger isn't in any unions because they refused to hire Ryan again bc he's in an union

Jason wins SLIGHTLY over Ryan. I love Ryan, he's the most accurate cause he deadass sounds like an accurate english Kanemaru. But Jason has a soft spot in my heart bc his voice has this softness to it that embodies Sonic's sweetheart nature aaaa (lowkey the reason sonic was my fictional crush as a kid too)

Whats so different about sonic rn vs sonic before

Sonic as a character is supposed to be a jab at speedsters; speedsters are egoistic, restless, energetic & self-centered

Sonic however is chill, likes to relax, humble & kind. He's not a hero, but he is a punk (by Japan's standards), supposed to be the anti to Mario's goody-two-shoes nature. he goes by his own rules, not due to a justice system or common morals, he does what HE knows is right. Sonic has an attitude and impatience to him, but he's also always aloof yet can have a sharpness that surprises others. But he's a sweetheart who's very bashful at praise that speedsters otherwise would gloat in. He just loves adventure.

Sonic is also like a fairy; he's not relatable. He's static, meant to guide others.

You always mention that you hate the current characterization of Sonic and Amy, but don't think you never mention the current VAs, Roger and Cindy. I know they're not writers, but you think they're partly part of the problem due to how they sound? When you said Sonic acting like a jerk now, is it really Roger's voice tone for the character?

I don't blame them, they're just voice actors. Their VOICES don't fit the characters just for sure, but they're not involved in the process. sadly the voices get associated (amy being a mature old lady & sonic being a jerk) but the VAs did nothing, I would not point fingers like this

hi! new follower first time asker! I was wondering if it's okay to ask what your ideal characterization of Amy has been in the past/should be currently? I saw you said you don't like modern amy which I'm assuming anything with her since frontiers + idw, but I think you also said you don't like archie which I see as as old school sonic given how long it ran, so I'm a little confused? 😅 does that mean only like amy in the early game era? sorry if this came off as too like forward

From her very first apperance to black knight is where she peaked for me, a little bit of gens too. X counts into this.

But after that she just took a nose dive ; first she can't be open about her crush, now she can't be rude & snarky & loud, & now not even energetic.

I hate how they censor her energy.
