Machetes to be banned from sale in Victoria in the wake of Northland Shopping Centre brawl
In response to a violent gang-related altercation at Melbourne's Northland Shopping Centre, the Victorian government has announced a ban on the sale of machetes, effective from midday Wednesday. The incident, which involved masked individuals wielding machetes and resulted in one person hospitalized and several others treated for anxiety, has prompted authorities to act swiftly to enhance public safety. The ban includes an amnesty period from September to November, allowing individuals to surrender machetes at designated police stations without penalty. After this period, possession of a machete could lead to significant penalties, including imprisonment or fines. Important Things To Check Before Your Townhouse Rental Inspection
Before your townhouse rental inspection, it’s important to make sure everything is in order to avoid any issues with your landlord. Start by cleaning the house thoroughly, including floors, windows, and surfaces. Check if there are any repairs needed, like a leaky faucet or a broken appliance, and take care of them. Make sure all light fixtures are working, and replace any burnt-out bulbs. Take a quick walk around to ensure there are no safety hazards or damages. Double-check that you’ve removed personal items from common areas and that everything looks neat. Finally, review your lease to make sure you’ve met all the requirements. A little preparation can go a long way in making the inspection go smoothly.

How Professional Cleaning Boosts Property Value
Professional cleaning can significantly boost property value by enhancing both the appearance and condition of a home. A thorough clean ensures that every corner, from carpets to windows, is spotless and well-maintained, creating a more inviting atmosphere for potential buyers. Cleanliness highlights the property's best features and minimizes any signs of wear and tear, making it more appealing and easier to showcase. This increased appeal can lead to a faster sale and a higher price, as buyers are often willing to pay more for a move-in ready home. Additionally, professional cleaning can address hidden issues such as mold or dust, which might otherwise decrease property value. Overall, investing in professional cleaning not only improves the immediate visual impact but also contributes to long-term property value enhancement.

How To Maintain A Luxury Beachfront Property In Australia?
Maintaining a luxury beachfront property in Australia requires meticulous attention and care to preserve its pristine condition. Start with regular cleaning to prevent salt buildup, which can corrode metal fixtures and damage surfaces. Use appropriate cleaners for wood, stone, and glass to keep these materials in top shape. Address humidity by using dehumidifiers and ensuring proper ventilation to prevent mold and mildew. Regularly inspect the property for signs of wear and tear, especially on exterior elements exposed to harsh coastal conditions. Landscaping maintenance is crucial; choose salt-tolerant plants and ensure irrigation systems are working efficiently. Protect your property from the elements by applying weather-resistant coatings on decks, railings, and outdoor furniture. Additionally, schedule routine maintenance for HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance in the coastal climate.

Inside the eight-hour Melbourne play where the creators don’t mind if you nod off (sort of)

Deep into the eight-hour-long theatre production 8/8/8: Work, dutiful audience members began shaving the naked body of Jeff Bezos. The Amazon founder had stepped on to a mini Segway to glide around the room, stark naked but for a cowboy hat and a single wireless earbud, delivering a speech that Star Trek’s William Shatner once gave after disembarking from a Bezos-owned Blue Origin space rocket.

How supermarket specials are hurting fruit and vegetable growers
Seeing your favourite items on special at the supermarket can feel like a huge relief during the cost-of-living crisis - but it's hurting some Australian producers. The major supermarkets are putting fresh produce on special regularly, a positive for consumers looking to make their cash stretch further, but it means producers are paid less for their produce. Grower services manager at Fruit Growers Victoria Michael Crisera told 9news it was a common misconception the retailer was wearing the cost of the special.
