My babies missed me and I missed them. Pete is my shadow and follows me everywhere. As soon as I got in the door, she was yelling at me and telling me her feelings. If you haven’t met Pete in person, you should know that attention needs to be on her terms and that she HATES to be picked up or contained in any way. Well, this morning, she let me pull her into my chest and cuddle her for a solid 10 minutes. Seriously. Groundbreaking. Seamus is a lot less vocal about his feelings but a lot more chill. He got a clean cage and a clean butt (rabbit poop butt is a thing) and a good brushing. I had enough fur I could make another Seamus. I made another wreath! Handmade by me! Lemons! 🍋 I tried to mostly follow the pattern for this one but also I didn’t. I also gave myself a second-degree burn on my finger from the hot glue gun and it was so horrifically painful. One of the mini baby shower activities was designing onesies! We each handmade onesies for our little girl. Although we took some inspiration from the internet, we did everything ourselves and got creative. It was a lot of fun and I can’t wait to see baby girl in her onesies! I want to preface this by saying that I am NOT just sitting here and being creative nonstop. I have very much been in the same pajamas for the past 3-4 days and slept like 14 hours today. With that being said, I am trying to be better about doing my creative projects. I’m pretty bad at self-care, especially when “normal” school is happening. Now that I’ve been home for over a month, I’ve taken the time to do the things I love. I made an Easter wreath last week and I also finished this beauty. This is a jewel-by-number thing and it’s definitely not difficult but it is intricate and time-intensive. It’s also very much pointillism and looks like nothing up close but - voilá - flowers! Both Seamus and Pete went to the vet today, but I only have a picture of Pete post-visit. Seamus is a healthy 4.36 lbs and Pete is a whopping 6.24 lbs. 😂 Seamus was a very good patient and Pete was...screaming and hissing the entire time. As someone who lives with anxiety and depression, right now is a tough time. I have been incredibly anxious about Coronavirus for weeks now. Just a constant state. I realize a lot of people are anxious and nearly everyone is “freaking out” but for those of us that have things like anxiety and depression, it’s easy to spiral and think of everything that could possibly happen. I’ve cried to my parents many times about this. I make them take their temperature daily and tell me the results. My daily online life is bombarded by Coronavirus. It is literally everywhere. Another facet to my anxiety is that I’m a teacher. My kids have been INCREDIBLY stressed about all of this and I’ve had to be a voice of reason for 95 kids when my own voice of reason is going haywire. I think this has hurt me and helped me. Helped in the sense that it makes me focus on my kids and their well-being but hurt because I’m not focusing on my own and that’s important too. My kids are so important to me (literally crying about it just thinking about HOW important) and it hurts me to see them scared and anxious and upset. The final piece to the puzzle is the social distancing part. I KNOW this is crucial to help limit exposure and slow down the spread of the virus. But as someone who “socially distances” themselves anyway because of their mental health, it’s tough and that’s an understatement. I don’t know if I have the proper words to phrase it but the idea that I’m going to be mostly by myself and in my house for 3 weeks scares me for my own mental health. I feel like I’m not explaining this well but here are my thoughts on the brink of three weeks away from school, as an anxious person who can’t stop thinking about this virus, and as a depressed person who probably shouldn’t spend three weeks by herself.
