I like stoic Cale, but I LOVE childish Cale more. For example:

When he was truly acting like a child while disguised as Naru.

When Alberu threatened him with the prime minister post.

When he got jealous of the fact that HD has smoother skin than him.

When he sat on the ground and almost cried thinking that he won't get any money from (?) world.

When he complained to Eruhaben about that pervert dragon.

When he panicked during Eden's birth and asked for Clopeh's help.

(There were more moments when Cale acted childishly. But I can't remember those right now.)

The unironically funniest thing about TCF is Cale giving his people food, home, shelter and everything under the sun, only to turn around be utterly flabbergasted, bamboozled, confounded about why they tf adore him so much.

Imagine being that bad at being trash. This dude had a literal crisis over how rudely he'd been treating his friend's elder all while the big bad evil guy of the entire effing novel was chucking literal dead mana at his head. And then monologued about how good of a person Choi Han was for not getting mad at him.

And then grinning to himself, nodding approvingly, deluding himself that he is, indeed, successful at being trash.

Currently rereading the novel for my fic and my god, Cale really do be the little shit type. Man's out here spouting bullshit left and right. He thinks he's scamming other people but he's running the biggest scam on himself??

Like what do you mean you're scamming the Jungle by putting out their fire in exchange for land? That's called employment?? What sort of job did you do before?

What do you mean you're gonna use On and Hong, and force Choi Han to pay for his meals? You're gonna scam Eruhaben, or put Raon to work? Saved Hannah and Jack, using them to topple the Empire? They already wanted to do that, dumbass. You give these people food, a house, affection and mental stability, and you think you're scamming them?

Man's biggest scam is deluding himself.

The funniest thing is reading about how at one point, Adin considers the two of them to be alike. Meanwhile, Cale's out here kicking ass and taking names with the power of friendship.

I find it funny that Kim Dokja, Cale, and Jo Euishin/Uisin all have faces that alert others to their thoughts

Kim Co: Kim Dokja is smiling- *prepares weapons* LOCK HIM UP!

Raon: Human, you're smiling like you are going to scam someone of all of their money!

Hwang Jiho: Your face looks suspicious, what are you going to do now? *laughs while looking at him with sparkling eyes*

Cale makes it so that everyone in his 'family' can do whatever they want.

He says it several times, of course: "Do whatever you want" and "Why are you even asking?"

He gives people choices, options, opportunities-- sometimes for the first time.

He uses information: Taylor Sten got the option to walk and live because he learned about the Crown Prince's ancient power.

He uses money, manpower, and other resources: Rosalynn can use her ridiculous magical potential because he gave her the people she needed to cut ties with her royal responsibilities and the magic stones to unlock her fullest power.

He uses threats: The Dragon Half-Blood and Clopeh were practically worshipping Cale the moment he spared their pitiful lives because they finally got to choose something. The Half-Blood's choice was between a long painful death and a short painful death, and Clopeh's choice was a choice of legends.

He uses sheer audacity, sheer bastard insanity: Crown Prince Alberu is free to laugh and feel crazy and do things he could never do behind the stuffy role and the stuffy mask he wore to protect himself and his interests. Alberu can smile, run around as a giant lion tiger monster, go to battle in his pajamas wielding a weapon from another world, and laugh at all of his enemies at home and abroad to their faces because Cale just gets him and gets him out there.

(He probably only got as far as he did with Alberu because he shared his secret side with him and learned Alberu's secret nearly from the start, so for the first time Alberu was accepted by a human being who treated him normally(?) and actually made his life easier unlike pretty much everyone else who he had to wheedle and trick to do the same)

He does it for everyone in his family, and I'm just naming a few of the ones that stuck with me.
