Minor reoccurring annoyance for me is people listing Wis´adel as an "evil woman". She does a few bad things before the start of the game (tortures a guy in darknights memoir, orphaned a young girl) but once the time period of the start of the game rolls around she has pretty firmly settled into being an anti hero. And by chapter 8 and onwards she is not even an anti hero just straight up heroic. Having a bad attitude does not change that.

"She kills people!" every single person she ever (seriously) harmed or killed is an enemy combatant. By that standard all operators are evil except for like Enis and Suzuran.

The one exception to this is her causing Alex and Misha´s deaths.... which she had very understandable reasons for. She genuinely thought that was the best way to save the most lives at the time (and that not working is likely part of why she expresses distaste for that type of thinking later). As for her very cruel method of killing Misha by engineering a situation where Amiya had to kill her... well Amiya and Wis´adel have a super nuanced and interesting relationship that could be its own several pages long analysis but to keep it simple and related to this from Wis´adel´s perspective that was not in any way harmful or potentially harmful to Amiya. And Misha had to die either way so better to do it in a way less likely to have herself get found out.

She correctly assumed that Amiya would just kill Misha if Misha tried to kill her. In the anime this assumption is incorrect but in the game she is just 100% right about that. Because she again correctly assumes that Amiya is no better then herself. To let me elaborate, W believed the world just sucks, everyone sucks. People are fundamentally selfish and cruel and are just telling themselves they are any better then that. When up against the wall everyone shows how awful they can really be.

And well... Amiya does break her own moral code and do bad things when she sees no other way to protect what she loves or in this case her own life. Just like W.

They are the same in this way. What W gets wrong is that she believes this means they both just suck, no one can ever be as good as Theresa so there is no point in trying. Amiya believes she has to keep trying even if it is impossible (Amiya deserves a "nu-uh i dont die" talent too with her determination!).

This is why W comes to respect Amiya so much by the end of chapter 8. And probably a big part of why she starts trying again.

W´s arc was never a redemption arc. It was about her regaining her hope that the world can be better.

Wis´adel, according to Theresa, means "to wish for a home".

To wish.

Something that W would have considered childish and ridiculous. But Wis´adel wants to build a future where the simple wishes like wanting a home or having any dreams are possible.

She did not need to "stop being evil" or "turn good". She needed to relearn how to dream.
