playing flight rising for over 8 years has really warped my idea of what a dragon is. like a dragon is just a person to me. when I see non-fr posts talking about dragons I don't imagine a wild animal or a wise ancient being I don't imagine a metaphor for the power of nature or for human greed I don't imagine a big lizard sitting on a pile of gold I just imagine a guy. a Dragon guy. that comes home from their Dragon job to their Dragon wife and their three-headed cat and worries about things like Dragon taxes and Dragon politics. dragons exist in the same place in my mind as elves and dwarves and shit. they fit squarely in the 'human person but different' zone. I see a tumblr post about a dragon and I imagine someone's lesbian guardian knight oc

Oh boy, I get to chaotically stumble in trying to explain PNG dragon game meme history, bear with me.

So back in 2021, Flight Rising had a site event called Dustcarve Dig which eventually led to the reveal of a new modern dragon breed, the Obelisk (modern dragon releases are bigger events than ancient dragon releases which drop every 6 months or so but we don't have time for that ‐). In the meantime, a joke started that we would instead find humans, which led to this historic post/image

Anyways, the joke popped off and eventually led to the main site forums, and before the irony could turn into actual sincere desire for humans to be added to the site, the mods had to make it clear

(I think this is also where the common use of Thomas Real started)

Lore-wise and site-wise, humans will never exist in Sornieth, with the closest things we'll get are the beastclans that have human characteristics (centaurs, maren, harpies, etc).

But we still live in hope

So it's become tradition at this point to say that every anniversary or site event, they'll finally drop Thomas and make him canon

Pretty sure I mucked up some info, so other FR users feel free to correct me or mention stuff I forgot
