Renly's entire storyline is genuinely so fucking funny. Like his brother dies and leaves behind two potential legitimate heirs, and he's just like "no I don't think so." He has absolutely no legal backing for his claim. If you ask him what gives him the right to be king, he'll say, "well people like me more than those two fuckers." And the best part is he almost managed it. Rip Renly Baratheon. You were this close to inventing democracy.

robert baratheon's small council was hysterical actually:
• old ass father figure
• boybestfriend's wife's weird incel friend
• lannister boot licker maester
• the most influential spy in the world who definitely cannot be trusted
• hated repressed younger brother
• hedonistic teenage gay brother as master of laws (??)
• secret targaryen loyalist

Still the greatest magazine cover of all time. Why are they framed in shadow. Why is the text so stark. Why is this being framed like the poster with the villains on it for a superhero movie. This summer: a new sexual identity emerges. The bisexuals will change the hierarchy of the DC Universe forever

Even as a boy, Renly had loved bright colors and rich fabrics, and he had loved his games as well. "Look at me!" he would shout as he ran laughing through the halls of Storm's End. "Look at me, I'm a dragon," or "Look at me, I'm a wizard," or "Look at me, look at me, I'm the rain god."
The bold little boy with wild black hair and laughing eyes was a man grown now, one-and-twenty, and still he played his games. Look at me, I'm a king, Cressen thought sadly. Oh, Renly, Renly, dear sweet child, do you know what you are doing?
