Northern Irish Conflict and the War for Identity
Since the beginning of the conflict in 1969, the most common medium of remembrance, within Belfast particularly, has been wall art, know as murals. In this project, I will set out to explore the conflicting ways ‘The Troubles’ in Northern Ireland have been memorialised through street art. I aim to deconstruct these sites using critical analysis, local experience and photography to examine how these murals can convey certain ideas and geographies of memory surrounding this national conflict.
