Hello, circus family! We have a message to pass on, that we figured was best to be honest about and not push it back. We have decided to turn Menagerie into a private rp as we enter a break, in which the dash will not close down, people may still roleplay, the Discord chat will still be up, however, we will not be accepting applications, post events, or activity checks. 

Both of us admins have found ourselves busier than expected with real life obligations, and we understand that many of you have been facing new university and work changes too. So we figured it was wise and healthy to take a breather.

But of course, we’d like to thank you guys so very much for sticking around with us for so long! Very close to a year in fact! We consider you all friends we hold dear & have grown close to. Family. And we’ll forever be grateful for having such a dedicated and friendly group of players, so please don’t hesitate to keep in touch ♡.

The earliest either of us could actively admin together again is in December/January .

Our plans are to consider this SEASON ONE of the Menagerie, ending just before we planned to reveal our biggest plot twist. SEASON TWO, is where we plan to begin again, and we plan to do so in flames. What we’ve waited almost a year to reveal, is we’ve been building up for the rebels to burn the Big Top down with Metzger inside (whether intentionally or not).

However, he’s not dead.

When the flames die, there is one man still standing; Metzger, transformed into a Reaper (Another name for Death, a Reaper is a mysterious trickster capable of shifting into any human form. Reapers are the longest-lived Cryptid known to date, their full lifespan unknown. But they gain years to their life by taking others, or by making people suffer.) 

So, Metzger, at 300 years old, has been lying for decades that the Menagerie is family-run, when it has only been him, causing suffering to extend his life. Even perhaps fanning the flames of the rebellion at times just to put them down again, to let their suffering increase. And Aladdin was the first to face him for it - and died by Metzger’s hands. However, it all becomes complicated when Metzger is still in control; the Cryptids don’t know how to leave, and another, Volkov, could take over too - but would he be better, or even worse? 

And it’ll be discovered too that the Starlight Carnival was burned down in a similar rebellion. But by Volkov himself, so he could begin his plans to take over the Menagerie from Metzger. How much control does your character truly have over their lives? Just what kind of pawns are they in Metzger’s, and now Volkov’s, game? (Becoming more complicated again when Volkov truly believes he is helping the Cryptids, a savior, not a man worse than Metzger when pushed to his worst.)

We will be discuss with everyone over Discord come December if we have time then to be co-admins again. if you would like to keep your role, & be keeping in contact in general. You will not need to reapply!

CEYDRAN AECOR; THE KETEA

HOW DO THEY TRANSFORM NOW ~ transformations are, while not expressly painful, a generally unpleasant experience for ceydran. it begins with his face, then lengthens along his body, swirling scale armor while he enters the water. 

WHAT ARE THEIR ABILITIES ~ positive traits revolve around his size and relative strength and resistance to injury. negative traits include his inability to breathe or hear out of the water.

WHO IN THEIR FAMILY ~ from his time in the military, he knows it’s genetic. he also heavily suspects and believes his mother was also a ketea. he has a family tree of sorts that notes who the cryptids in his family were; unfortunately, it’s mostly unreadable.

MAIN TRIGGER ~ emotions, particularly fear and anger, tend to bring out the ketea. partial transformations, such as scales across his neck and back, are common when he feels physically threatened. will also transform if he feels like he is drowning, but due to the intense physical effort this is often impossible.

would we have to keep close to the source material when planning our character's bio? like with sally, for instance, would we have to keep to the medical experimentation backstory we saw in the movie or?

What does it mean that this is a skeleton rp?

Basically, what it means is that we don’t give you a biography for the character. Instead, as shown in our open skeletons, we only give a very rough description of them! So it leaves things very much open to interpretation. I hope this makes sense!
