about the term "peak trans" and "peaking"-- anon who said it means "see through" is wrong but probably many people have this misunderstanding. in effect, it's the same thing, but the etymology is different. the word for "to catch a glimpse" or "see through" is "peek", not peak. peak means a summit, a highest point-- peak trans originally meant "i've reached the limit, the highest amount, of trans-related bs & cognitive dissonance that i can put up with, i can no longer ignore the problems". once you reach the peak of a mountain, you can only go down, similarly, once you reach "peak trans" then you start moving away from the movement bc you can't reconcile yourself to it anymore.

I only ask because I recently turned 23 (like literally this April) and am only recently coming around looking into what radical feminism actually is, relate to you & your story a lot and was curious what your journey to this point was like. Feeling a bit stupid because for so long I’ve been confusing radfem believes with traditional conservative beliefs.

u don’t need to feel stupid, many of us have been there and were discouraged from ever looking at what the ppl we supposedly disagree with were even saying! & many of us just believed we were being progressive and standing for a persecuted minority’s rights without questioning what we were actually standing for. i was on radblr i think since i was 20 maybe and that did play a role but also seeing the natural conclusion of the TRA ideology play out in my own personal life was the thing that fully convinced me in the end. that trans woman my ex was dating was even calling this one woman a terf bc that woman outed the tw as her abuser… and ppl just blindly bought into it & said she was a serial liar & terf just bc she warned ppl about the trans woman abusing her.

before then i was a TRA for several years & went from hardcore reiterating all their arguments for like 3-ish years to toning it down to being a more reasonable TRA for like another 3 years to finally peaking.
