Reunion with Ms. Fung – A Long-Lost Connection Rekindled
Today 13th Jun-25 marked a special moment – my second meetup with Ms. Fung after nearly two decades apart. She was our MD’s secretary back in our working days, and we were quite close then. After she left the company in 2006, we lost touch for 19 years. The reconnection began when she informed our old colleagues’ group about Mdm Choo Yoke Chan’s critical condition, and through that, I got back in contact with her. Since then, we’ve been exchanging messages to stay connected.

Ms. Fung is currently still active in school administration work, and during our meetup, she shared openly about the tough period following her departure from the company. Her exit was closely tied to the forced retirement of our MD, a well-respected and kind leader. His departure was a blow to many of us, and Ms. Fung said she felt lost and grounded for about eight months.
It was through reconnecting with Mdm Choo that Ms. Fung eventually found her current job in a school – a role she’s held until now. She also shared a personal story about her journey of coming to faith in Christ, which touched me deeply.
Beyond the past, we also talked about our present – our children, daily routines, and life after work. It was a meaningful and heartfelt conversation, and I’m thankful we’ve rekindled this bond after so many years.

Today, I helped my Isetan friend switch her mobile plan from the old $32/month line to a more affordable and fuss-free option—with the help of our ever-reliable Junee girl. Once the phone matters were settled, we treated ourselves to a well-deserved break at Tiong Bahru Bakery. Over lattes and flaky croissants, we had a long, heartfelt chitchat—just like the old days. We took time to remind each other of our little plans and dreams for life after retirement. It was a simple but meaningful day filled with good company, warm memories, and a gentle reminder of what's to come.

A Special Gathering with Long-Time Colleagues and Friends
Let's come together to reconnect with long-time work partners and close colleagues. This is a chance to share stories of retirement life, stay active together, and build new friendships.
We'll enjoy each other’s company, relax, and do the things we love. I'll also be sharing my special chicken curry and nasi lemak – come hungry and ready to taste!
Looking forward to a joyful time filled with laughter, memories, and meaningful connections.

After meeting Christine for lunch, I took my break at Tiong Bahru Bakery. I spent some time writing in my diary. It’s a nice place to hang out and chat with friends. I often come here with them—it’s become one of our favorite spots. The cozy atmosphere and good coffee make it easy to relax. With the heat outside being so intense lately, it’s the perfect escape from the sun. Nothing beats cooling off indoors with good company and a fresh pastry.

Breakfast at Great Nanyang after my morning exercise.
Great Nanyang at Kent Ridge open at 8am, our regular egg cheese toast and butter toast, but there is no selection of just butter toast. And always got to remove the kaya away.

Many young people in 2025 are keeping up with trends by following celebrities and influencers. Hanging a Labubu doll on bags has become a symbol of being trendy and fashion-forward. Labubu, from the POP MART art toy series, has turned into a cultural icon, especially in street fashion. Here's how this trend plays into youth culture:
1. Celebrity Influence: When celebrities or influencers are seen with certain items—like a Labubu keychain—it instantly gains popularity.
2. Expression of Identity: Accessories like Labubu dolls are more than cute; they signal belonging to a modern, stylish, and trend-conscious group.

3. Pop Culture Collectables: The Labubu figure is also part of the growing hype around collectable designer toys, often seen as status symbols.

Started with high hopes for a nice long walk at Canopy Park, but it turned out shorter than you expected — that can definitely be disappointing.
At least the meal at Terminal 3 Basement 2 saved the day! Le Shrimp Ramen’s signature dish is really flavorful. We decided to dabao (take away) home too.
Ah, at least still got a cool memory out of the trip!
The 3D waterfall photo spot at Terminal 2 is quite eye-catching, It’s like a mini adventure itself.

It was a meaningful reunion with Kevin after nearly a decade of not meeting due to our demanding schedules. Unfortunately, we also reflected on those who are no longer with us.

What a day, no rain, but the sky looks dark. The Sun is unhappy to shine out. Visited Tiong Bahru Bakery for my brunch. Order plain croissant and red berry éclairs.
