“Are they following me because they’re interested in rping or do they just need the follow-back follower count?”
I’ve been seeing this a lot lately and I understand if people get miffed about it. I would be too. And I think it’s a good call to try and interact with folks by calling attention to it.
let it be known though
if I follow you but we never rp, it’s not that i’m using you to get my follower count up.
I’m just rlly bad at making the first move.
Follower count doesn’t mean squat to me since I know that it usually ends up being like, dead blogs I’ll never see again. So yeah.
This is a post where I’m encouraging you, the reader, to make the first move. Just try and talk to the people you follow, even if you don’t think they’d be interested in rping ( provided you follow their rules on contact, mutuals, ect ). Maybe they wanna rp? Maybe they don’t. Your chances can only increase if you come with an idea to bring to the table, so just try it!
Maybe a friendship will happen, maybe it won’t. But at the VERY LEAST you can say you tried.

Cedar's amusement faded into bemusement as he watched Keiko's actions. And the change...? Well, that wasn't something one saw every day. His eyes whirred quietly as the irises spun, attention focused intently on her. He saw the moment her expression changed, and his eyebrows raised as things started happening at a faster rate. He straightened up, taking a step back as he watched the crystals forming, wondering if he needed to run, if the crystals were going to spread further. Clearly Keiko was agitated about what was happening, though she seemed to be trying not to cause a panic- ... The sniper blinked in bemusement at what appeared to be a large stone coffin in the middle of Spider's kitchen. How in the bloody hell was he going to explain this? Suddenly Cedar was glad Dynamo was off on a job that would take the better part of a month, or else the mercenary would be yelling about werewolves and vampires.
mercenary-sniper:
Cedar chuckled quietly and leaned against the counter, crossed arms propped on the counter, watching and waiting to see how she’d react to seeing the fancy and exotic contents of the refrigerator. “It’s actually quite a bit later than noon here, than where the First lives, due to timezones.” He glanced up to place where Reggae was, snorting quietly when he saw the blasted camera-bird had gotten one of the French doors open again, and was outside on the balcony railing. Which was good news- Cedar wouldn’t have to worry about it dive-bombing him. “If you do not find anything you fancy in there, the pantry is just over there,” he said, rounding the corner to fetch something for himself from the refrigerator.
She noticed there was a plate a large piece of salmon that was covered in salt, probably to preserve its freshness, remembering how she used to do the same to other fish back home she took the plate of salted fish from the fridge, carefully removed the excess salt…
And forgot Cedar was still in the room five feet away.
She performed a feat of inhuman proportions. If Cedar had the guts to watch, he would have seen her face stretch forwards, her skin harden, her mouth take the form of a bony beak and tiny feathers sprouting out, her white hair stuck straight out around her head like the crest of some strange exotic ornate bird, and she opened her beak, grabbed the fish and swallowed it whole. But that’s not all that was happening.
She realized all too quickly something was wrong. She couldn’t stop the changes, oh no, she had allowed herself to be thrown head first into a metamorphic state. She looked around, and saw Cedar, and she had to explain herself now, she had little time as it was! Her body was being surrounded by the crystals she had in her pouches on her belt, they were attaching themselves to one another and growing around her at an exponential rate!
“Shit… I forgot about this… Cedar, I need to tell you something and you need to take heed! My family was targeted back home for a reason! We were not completely human due to an ancient bloodline that was forgotten to the ages…”
The crystals were already about to close her in, she had to tell him now!
“Cedar, I’ll explain later, just don’t pani—” That was it, her voice was cut off by the crystals sealing off the last visible portion off her face in a cocoon of reflective stone. However that same reflective surface quickly took the appearance of solid stone.

“I see, well if I do meet him, I know to not let my guard down and to expect the unexpected.” She snickered at the subtle hint, “Or perhaps I should bring a 25 foot pole?”
Cedar snorted quietly. “Offer him a box of donuts, and he will be your friend for life,” he replied dryly. He sighed softly a moment later, shaking his head with a quiet breathy chuckle. “Dynamo the donut fiend,” he murmured to himself.
She chuckled in a way that was more of a forced back laugh, “I’ll take your word for it, Cedar.” She finally checked the time, and was floored by how fast time seemed to fly by, “It’s noon already? I got here around nine thirty or something like that right?” That’s when her stomach grumbled, “Oh lovely… I’m curious what’s in the fridge…”
She made her way to the kitchen and opened the door of the refrigerator, taking a look at what was inside.

“I see, but Spider’s decorating really blew me away, it’s absolutely stunning!” She smiled as she imagined what Spider must have had to do just to be allowed to do all of this, either way she was impressed! Who knew Spider had such an interior decorator in him!
She caught herself staring at the ‘stars’ in the ceiling, shaking herself back into reality and smiling at Cedar, “I’m glad I met you today, Cedar…”
“I’m told it is the result of skills he’s learned over several decades,” Cedar replied, quietly amused, as he turned to lead the way back to the great room and past the closed door again. “Physical skills, as well as negotiation and manipulation.” He nodded acknowledgement of her last comment. “You are lucky it was only me here when you arrived. Spider’s brother can be…a bit much.” He mouth twisted in the sort of smile that hinted that what he’d said was an understatement.

“Of course,” Cedar replied, offering a hand to help her up. “You’ve already seen the kitchen and great room. Would you like to see the master bedroom next, or the rest down the hall?” He only hoped he could do the tour- and the work Spider had done- justice, with how used to it he’d become.
She took his hand with a smile, though took a moment to restore her balance due to the arm that was now on the floor messing up her equilibrium “How about the rest down the hall?”

Cedar didn't let go until she had her balance, then smiled and turned to lead the way down the hall. Most of the doors were open, showing the laundry room, the hall bathroom, the study, and a bedroom. But one door was closed, and Cedar walked past it as he explained what he understood of what all Spider had done. He paused in the doorway of the bedroom, looking inside with a wry smile, before explaining. "Spider did minimal work on this one. As it's his older brother's room, he let him decorate it as he saw fit."

It was now her turn to frown, she felt embarrassed, disappointed even in herself. She still has much to learn and adjust to, and it’s about time to admit it.
“I’m just so used to getting on the defensive when stuff like this happens I suppose… Not having to fight is still something I’m having to get used to… I’m sorry if I made the situation awkward…”
“It was not meant as criticism,” Cedar replied. “And you didn’t make things awkward.” Perhaps a change of subject? “Would you like to have a look around the condo? Spider is justifiably proud of it, but he can get rather easily embarrassed about it in some ways.” He paused to consider what he’d just said. “…if that makes sense.”
She regained her composure at Cedar’s reassurance, and at the offer to see the rest of the condo, her eyes lit up with a glint of curiosity at the thought of seeing Spider’s handiwork around the rest of the residence, after all what she’s already seen has impressed her!
“I would like that, perhaps you can give me an unofficial tour?”

And this sort of thing has happened before, I had to get this thing repaired once and basically the internal fluid splashed the coat of one of the guys fixing it… Let’s just say their mind wasnt in the right place when that happened… I did end up having to physically defend myself with a half-repaired arm and finish the job myself elsewhere…”
The sniper frowned. “That is unfortunate. I can assure you, such jokes would be the last thing any of Spider’s circle would make, largely due to the fact some of our own circulatory fluids are various types of lubricant.” He wasn’t going to point out that such a fact meant ‘sexual lubricant’-based jokes didn’t make much sense for a Reploid; he assumed it was common knowledge. Then again, he was of the private opinion that humans in general were allergic to such things as common knowledge and common sense. Or just knowledge and sense, period.

Once she had been medicated and Cedar got to work, she had to wait for the medicine to kick in, but Cedar’s statement did strike as funny, causing a snicker to spring from her throat,
“I can imagine he’d walk in and as soon as he sees that arm on the floor he’s gonna shout ‘why is there an arm on my floo— is that oil on my carpet?!’ Of course it’s not oil, it is an oil based lubricant… Also Cedar. NO. I see the thought process already…”
Cedar snorted an undignified laugh. “No, he would be completely deadpan when he speaks why there’s an arm on his floor. And as there isn’t a single carpet in the entire condo, he wouldn’t care much about odd fluids on the floor unless they are the type to eat through acrylic tiling.” He raised an eyebrow at her for her last statement. “I beg your pardon?”

“It would be greatly appreciated, Cedar…” Was all that she could say from between her teeth as she tried to keep herself from screaming from the pain, it didn’t take long however for that to fail and a string of cursing escaped her lips just under her breath,
“Son of a motherfucking charlie horse this fucking hurts, why the hell does this arm finally feel the fucking need to fall apart?”
The sniper smiled sympathy and immediately vanished down the hall to the bathroom there, retrieving the pain medication and a bottle of water. He offered them to her on his return, waiting until she had them, before setting to work wrapping the cloth over the exposed joint. He did his best to be careful, but he knew there was no avoiding all pain. “I imagine the first thing Spider will say when he returns is why there is an arm on his floor.” Well, it was an attempt to distract Keiko from her pain?

“Oh, it’s fine, Cedar… I just need to give this a good push and…OW FUCKING HELL!”
Much to her dismay, that one push caused the prosthetic to snap off of the joint connection to her shoulder, lubricant and splashed to the floor for a moment from the shoulder connection while the now beyond repair pieces of machinery fell to the floor, leaving the sparking wires that remained to cause great discomfort and obvious pain.
“Ok… Cedar… I hate doing this but… SON OF A MOTHERFUCKING TAVERN WHORE THIS HURTS!”
If Cedar found the strength to look at the now broken joint, the numerous wires were clearly also entering her body, most likely to merge with the spinal cord to provide natural movement.
Cedar winced at the snap of the prosthetic. The cursing, however, only received a raised eyebrow; he was used to it from Spider. As Keiko cursed, he eyed the protesthetic on the floor, then turned his attention to the broken joint. “Perhaps a makeshift bandage to protect the exposed joint, instead. And I believe Spider has some pain medication for the humans he interacts with, if you would like some?”

Her eyes had been wandering in the time that Cedar had been hunting for the cloth, and her attention was snapped back to him as his footsteps drew near, at the sight of the cloth her face creased in a smile that revealed she was familiar with such a simple temporary repair.
“Of course, I do believe it will be far more comfortable for while we await Spider’s return…” she reached over her shoulder with her right arm and began to try pushing the trapped limb so it would simply fall limply, of course the metal and wiring groaned and creaked in protest as she managed to make the wrist barely budge forward; this wretched arm wasn’t going to simply let this happen.
Cedar watched with a sympathetic expression for the creaking and groaning of recalcitrant mechanics. He’d offer to help, but…human prosthetics were far more delicate and fiddly than Reploid inner workings, and he couldn’t even handle those. “I’m not certain what I can offer to make the process easier…”

Cedar watched with a sympathetic expression for the creaking and groaning of recalcitrant mechanics. He'd offer to help, but...human prosthetics were far more delicate and fiddly than Reploid inner workings, and he couldn't even handle those. "I'm not certain what I can offer to make the process easier..."

She tried to lean forward to place a hand on her knee but ended up reeling back at another series of internal sparks that lit the wiring from the inside,
“I agree it should be looked at by a technician, and if they decide there’s no other option but to replace it I wouldn’t mind…”
“Spider knows the area better than myself, so you can ask him when he returns. In the meantime, perhaps a sling to keep your arm still might help?” It was a temporary solution, but it might do for now. Cedar knew Spider’s habits well enough to know the bounty hunter would be back before sundown. If only because the Tower’s view of the sunset was spectacular, and Spider never missed it if he could help it.
“It would be better than nothing I suppose…” She said with a slight grunt in her tone, “To be honest it’ll probably stay stuck in this position until it gets either removed or fixed…”
