When I was a child I stayed wide awake, climbed to the highest place on every fire escape, restless to climb.

Flicker and Die
pairing: Elizabeth Hamilton/Reader
word count: 534
warnings: mentions of infidelity
summary: Their relationship is wrong, and Eliza knows it, but oh, God, love is so hard to let go of.
a/n: another quick, unedited and incoherent fic for my sweet gays
The sun is rising. The only thing separating the two women is the candle that Eliza holds.
It’s been burning for a quarter of an hour now. The sky is painted with gorgeous hues of blues, pinks, and oranges, and yet the only place Eliza can look is the flame. Not even the wax dripping down the side of the candlestick can capture her attention. Not even her lover can convince her to shift her gaze from the flickering fire.
It will die soon enough, but Eliza hopes that by staying still, by holding in her breath and saying nothing, it’s life will stretch for as long as possible. She knows that once the candle ceases to burn, the love that the women share will die with it.
(Y/N) convinces her that it will be different. That this relationship—this, whatever they have—doesn’t have to end so abruptly. ‘I love you’ lingers on her lips. Elizabeth is almost sad when she says it. As if, once the words were out of her mouth, they’d be gone forever. Lost in the cool air that pricked her skin and caused gooseflesh to cover her arm. Still, she whispers, ‘I love you’, again and again.
And the sun is up, and her husband is to be home soon. Asking her lover to leave is the last thing Eliza wants to do, but there are no other options. So she asks her to leave: once calmly, the request merely a breath that almost extinguishes the lit candle. The second time Eliza asks (Y/N) to leave isn’t as gentle. She’s crying now, her voice hoarse, but still just as quiet as before.
Where they sit in the garden isn’t too far from her son’s bedroom window. He’d surely notice his mother’s sobs if she were any longer. So Eliza swallows the pain and the longing and the lust and the love she feels for the other woman. They both have their own families to tend to, and it’d be disgustingly selfish for Mrs. Hamilton to keep her lover here any longer.
(Y/N) stands. She knows just as well as Eliza that what they’re doing is wrong. This is unloyalty; infidelity; adultery, and not to mention, two women being in a relationship such as this would cause an uproar in the community. Still, they always seemed to find their way back to one another.
Maybe the universe is trying to tell them something through the flickering flame. Neither of them can tell, though. All (Y/N) knows is that the heat is burning her chin as she leans in and kisses her lovers forehead. It’s almost too sweet, and for the first time this morning, Eliza’s attention is stolen away from the fire.
But it’s too late. The second (Y/N) has the attention of the person she cares most about, she’s gone. Out the garden, away from the Hamilton household.
Eliza is left alone with only the sun and the wind, which soon claims the life of the candle flame. It has died. It isn’t the warmth from the fire she misses; instead longing for the warmth found in a forbidden partner that was just let go.

Smile
Pairing : Alexander Hamilton x Elizabeth Schuyler
Word Count : 436
Anonymous said : Can you write some good ol’ hamliza? Some fluff of Alexander falling helplessly for her and not being able to get her off his mind
“Why are you smiling like that?”
John smirks, nudging Alexander with his elbow. The smile tugging on his lips is so genuine and he can’t help but speculate what’s on his mind. They’ve just returned from the ball, and he hasn’t stopped smiling since. His eyes are simply glowing with what John can only describe as happiness. It’s nice to see Alexander so lively, so intrigued by something other than work.
“Like what?” He covers his mouth with his hand, but his smile reaches his eyes, and John can see it clearly just though them alone.
“Like we’ve won the war.” He leans back in his chair, putting his feet up on the table. “Like nothing is wrong in the world,” he laughs lightly, “I’m not good with words, but I know you know what I mean.”
Alexander seems to falter for a moment, his cheeks flushed, and his eyes still sparkling with soft emotion— adoration perhaps, or some form of it. John remembers watching him spin that woman around the ballroom. Her dark lustrous hair spilling down her back, ebony contrasting against the vibrant blue of her dress. He thinks maybe she’s the source of his smile, the reason he’s been reduced to a blushing mess.
“Does it have something to do with that woman?”
“Eliza.” Her name rolls off his tongue, too easily. John smiles. “Elizabeth Schuyler.”
Alexander seems dazed if only for a moment, he looks away, his hand moving to twist a strand of hair between his fingers. John chuckles. Alexander seems enamoured, like this woman has taken his breath away, leaving him helpless.
“She’s wonderful really.” He looks up at John. “She makes my heart pound erratically.” He touches his chest, his hand shaking. “I had no idea a woman as beautiful as her could even exist. Her hair is softer and smoother than the finest silk, her eyes more vibrant and astonishing than the entire galaxy. They’re brown, with shimmery flecks of gold— terribly alluring, but my word isn’t enough to grasp her beauty, she’s one of those wonders you have to see yourself, to be rightfully amazed.”
John can’t help but snicker; he covers his mouth with one hand, patting Alexnader’s back with the other. His description of that woman, Elizabeth Schuyler, is over the top, though he finds it oddly endearing.
“Oh yeah?”
“I’m drowning at the mere thought of her. When I look into her eyes, my mind freezes up, because her beauty is simply breathtaking.”
“Now is that a good or bad thing Alexander?” He laughs.
“I’m not sure, all I know is I’m in love.”
Thanks for reading!
Feel free to send me some requests!

hi! First of all, I apologize for being absent for quite a while. Things haven’t been going so well in my life, but what matters is I’m back now…kinda! If anyone is still interested, I will resume working on the third part to You & I, and any other requests in my inbox. Please comment so I have something to keep me determined!
