These are from the Valentines event but I’m so calling it that Richard is talking about Elwood and Mike is talking about Daisy’s mom. MY PROOF IS BASICALLY NONEXISTENT- but I’m still calling it. I just think it’s interesting how Richard never refers to his person by pronoun.

Also I was so scared they might pair Daisy and Mike up (I’m always scared of it) but I like how he mentions a past love, and even more interesting if it is Marigold!

Laughing so bad at this ad but LISTEN- I think it’s interesting that they didn’t just use Mike’s regular model? Like they obviously have it from the other ad, but they purposely changed the colouring in this one.

So like is it supposed to be that it’s not Mike? It’s instead just some random young man that Daisy had a date with?

Merge Gardens Halloween! 🎃

So the Cedar Hollow event happened! I played it for a bit but ultimately the most interesting thing from it was the lore, technically not a lot of lore actually but still worth noting in my opinion.

So yea the nearby town is called Cedar Hollow, we got a small little idea of what some shops and it look like which is nice :)

We also learn Daisy likes dogs and that’s cute!

New Merge Episode just dropped and I’m so excited (although I’m fearful of these portraits being AI,,, but I also don’t know WHY they would be if they have so many wonderful artists at Milford so I’m just a bit hesitant)

But we get more info on Daisy’s family! As in, actual pictures of them! No names for now, although one of these people are probably Grandma Marigold, as she’s the only other person mentioned by name in Daisy’s family.

We get a picture of Basil and Rose and it’s really pretty :) they look so sweet, but it’s funny that Richard has such a hatred for Basil, I mean understandable since Basil is responsible for the powers that trapped Richard and probably killed Elwood, but dang!

Basil and Rose are really tragic though, Rose was sick and Basil wanted so badly to heal her, I don’t know why he thought that using his plant powers would save them though?? Instead he just turned them into a rose bush, which is kinda scary to think about for what Daisy could do…

Hoping the family gets expanded on a bit more, just in terms of names and who the family members are in the pictures. Also thanks to an update in the game we know that the town Myrtlegrove Estate is closest to is called Cedar Hollow. So we can probably assume most characters in the topiary bushes are from there.

Also seen some people mentioning that “Greenthumbs” might be the family’s last name and man am I hoping that’s not the case… just cause the name is kinda lame LOL- I’m still rooting for either the last name Myrtle or Elwood, because we know Uncle Elwood is called by his last name, his first name is Cedar. Also Cedar is crazy! He’s a scientist, and has so many potions and things left around the estate, what a funky guy!

Speaking of the potions… Daisy drinks an unknown old green substance left by Elwood in hopes of getting her energy/powers back and saving Rita plus others??? Ok Daisy… Such an interesting thing to do to be so desperate to save the woman you thought was betraying you… could it be you… care for her or something???

Honestly I love how it’s implied in Merge Gardens lore that everyone Daisy frees from the topiary bushes are staying at the mansion- because honestly where else would they even go?? So like of course it makes sense they stay there, but the real funny thing is that Rita chooses to stay too. She got one look at the magical plant nonsense and Daisy and she was hooked! Like she has no real commitment besides dealing the paperwork to the estate, and the mysterious phone call to bring Daisy to the estate. But despite all that, and how much she says she does not like certain attributes of the garden, she still stays! Like honestly Rita getting married to Daisy would be less gay than whatever the two of you are doing 🙄

The “incident”

Ok so a big thing in Merge Gardens is that Daisy didn’t know about her powers, the estate or her Uncle Elwood. And it’s not because she just never had an opportunity to visit and discover them! Because in the episode “Reflections in Time”, we get to see a young Daisy at Myrtlegrove Estate, decorating the tree with her mother and Uncle Elwood as they celebrate the holidays, and Daisy discovers her powers.

Now the first interesting thing is that when Daisy discovers her powers, Uncle Elwood keeps it secret from Marigold. Which it seems like in that family particularly, having the “gift” is a really good thing! Uncle Elwood is ecstatic that Daisy has the gift! And he encourages her to use it more. Which means it’s not like the gift was a secret thing, he definitely knew Marigold had it, and potentially Grandma Marigold had the powers too, since the estate was once hers before she left it to Uncle Elwood. Uncle Elwood just seems to have been skipped in the powers bloodline, but he dedicates a lot of time to discovering the secrets of the Estate.

So you would assume that he would want Marigold to come out and see that Daisy also inherited the same powers she did! But we know from Marigold’s reaction when she does see, that it’s apparently a very bad thing.

Especially because after that, it’s assumed that Marigold moved her and Daisy away and refused to ever talk about it. Which Daisy also blocked out of her memory. Now we don’t know if she blocked them out purely because she was so young or if something traumatic happened that caused her to block them out. But Daisy getting her powers must’ve been a huge deal, because it causes Marigold to cut Uncle Elwood out of both their lives, despite how close they all seemed to be.

Something must’ve happened with Marigold and her powers that affected her negatively enough that she saw them as bad, and Uncle Elwood knows how she feels about them. I think Marigold probably continued to stay at the Estate despite her negative experience because her powers kept the Evergrowth at bay. She still cared for Elwood and didn’t want to see him and her home be overtaken by it. That or she just genuinely didn’t know that the Evergrowth would overtake the home when she and Daisy left.

So my current idea is that after seeing that Daisy had the gift, Uncle Elwood and Marigold got in an argument. Marigold being angry that he didn’t immediately let her know or that he encouraged Daisy. Uncle Elwood argues back that Daisy deserves to use her powers. Maybe Marigold loses control of her powers, or the Evergrowth attacks, because we know the powers are very emotion based (Since Basil ended up cursing the entire estate and causing the Evergrowth because of his grief)

This is the event that makes Daisy block everything from her memories, and it’s what causes Marigold to move them away. Then it’s not long after that the Evergrowth takes over the estate, causing Richard and Uncle Elwood to go missing.

I’d also like to note that we don’t know much about the Elwood family (we don’t even know their actual last names I just call them the Elwood’s because Cedar Elwood is the only one with a last name 😭) the only family members we know are Daisy, her mother Marigold, her Uncle Elwood, Grandma Marigold, and Basil and Rose. There’s other unnamed and unmentioned family members within all that. Like for instance we don’t know anything about Daisy’s dad. He’s never once mentioned so we have to assume he’s probably not in the picture??

He’s not present during the memory, which is a holiday, you’d expect a father to be celebrating with his partner and child. Unless he was elsewhere during that. Then Daisy just never mentions a dad ever. We know of Marigold but that’s it. Also to mention that the Merge Gardens Instagram will make posts relating to holidays. For Mother’s Day we got a new made artwork of Marigold. For Fathers Day, we got a close up of the birds in one of the puzzles.

So not really equal in terms of characters to fit that 😭 but the birds close up is from the puzzle of Marigold camping with the unknown guy. He most closely resembles Mike, but others have said he could be Daisy’s dad, or it’s a younger Uncle Elwood, despite the hair styles and clothes not really lining up (Merge Gardens is really particular about keeping the same hairstyles for characters even in different outfits)

So it could just be simply that Marigold had been with a guy who didn’t stick around to be in Daisy’s life, or he did but he’s just not present in the story at all.
