I really hate when I’m reading and the characters talk about COVID. Like yes I know this a contemporary book, but I like when things are more ambiguously timeless. Also, it just throws me right out of the story and back into my actual life which is never what I want.

At a meeting this morning the mother of one of my students told me she used to hope her son would be in my class, because she loved the way I was with my students. She would have only seen me at dismissal and stuff and somehow I made that impression, which is really flattering.
