Back in my day we called that a muse
youre not “bad at art” you just need to find a character to latch onto to where you draw them 1 million times and you improve dramatically

I mean...yeah.... but its absolutely relevant to the themes of surrealism and mundanity
I'm gonna take a meme way too seriously but like why are silly scenes seem as antithetical to good or award-worthy art?
All the strange imagery in EEAAO is purposeful. It all builds to an understanding that you have to work with the life you have and that even in the most far flung realities there is normality.
It absurdity contrasts the serious discussions of divorce, suicide and the Asian-American experience and makes them hit so much harder. Its the narrative sugar that helps the medicine go down
Without scenes like this it would just be depressing hit after hit and an entirely different sort of film. By lowering the audiences guard the tone shifts are more jarring (positive) but it also makes you more receptive to the characters original issues and feel relieved when they try to address them at long last.
EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE (2022) Dir. Daniel Kwan & Daniel Scheinert

A good rule of thumb for AI is "would you trust a trained pigeon to do this?"
"We trained a pigeon to recognise cancerous cell clusters and somehow they're really good at it" okay great, that's something that could plausibly be a thing.
"We trained a pigeon to recognise good CV:s and left it in charge of sorting through all our job applications" uh perhaps consider not doing that.

The midjourney stuff just reminds of when we were trying to find a new platform to host the ao3 donation form, and companies kept trying to tell me about all their "ai" features that would track donor engagement, and figure out the optimal pattern to email individual donors asking for follow up donations, and all the ways they suggest we manipulate people into staying on our websites. It was a great way to filter out who either wasn't listening to us when we described our ethics and donor base, or just didn't believe us.
Now granted ao3 is a unique case based on a) the amount of page views we get in any given time period and b) the fact that most donors absolutely do Not want to be identified as such anywhere, (the default "list of recent donors" module got nuked Immediately) but it surprised me some that the concept of "donors who value their privacy and would be furious at even the whiff of AI" is unique. Some of us really are just existing in different worlds.

If you were an owner, CEO, senior manager, or any stakeholder, would you find this #pixelart chart presented by your data analyst useful and engaging?

We are tabling at Doujin Con London in August and thought it would be cool to make a doujin about doujins!
This is my proof of concept lol it took maybe an hour or two to make but ideally we would redo it digitally so we can have some level of mass production (i.e. 10 of them)
We also wanna adapt our brief history videos into these little zines! Then they will actually be brief xD (ignore i got our own title of the series wrong on the cover)
