disney employees are starting a full week of walkouts leading to their big walkout on march 22nd, 2022. they’ve asked people to not use disney products during this week. (no disney+, hulu, espn, playing games, watching videos, reviewing/blogging about any of their IP, no going to the parks). this is a targeted and timed action you can concretely participate in.

So many ppl often offer the library as a alternative to pirating and didn't want to add this in the tags of that post bc it was specifically about living outside the US but like i think a significant portion of tumblr just doesn't understand that libraries (specifically checking out hard copies of things like books and scheduling computer time) are actually inaccessible to a large portion of ppl living in the US. Like there's this weird reverence in which libraries are held as beacons of progressiveness. And i understand why but not all libraries are created equal and the ability for libraries to be able to set thier own rules and requirements as to what's needed for a library card does lead to many many people namely undocumented immigrants and the homeless unable to access.
